Canon - Digital Rebel XT / EOS 350D, 18-55mm Lens Digital Camera —

I've had a Canon Digital Rebel XT for almost 2 years now, and I love it! My previous camera had an unbearably long start-up time, and the Rebel has virtually none. That's important to me, since a lot of my photos are of a toddler. In the time the old camera took to "get ready," the action I wanted to capture was over. I don't have that problem with the Rebel XT. Turn it on and it's ready to shoot. I'm an advanced amateur photographer, so I like the amount of control I have over the settings for each picture - shutter speed priority, aperture priority, full manual, program modes. My wife, on the other hand, prefers the fully automatic "Green Zone" mode. This camera suits both of us. I have been a Rebel owner (various models) since 1991, and have always been pleased with the feature set on their cameras. The pictures from this digital model are outstanding. And with Compact Flash cards becoming increasingly cheaper, the fact that it ships without one (or with a small one) isn't really an issue. Once you've bought the camera, what's another few dollars for a high capacity card? Bottom line: if you like a lot of control, but you (or someone else who might use it) also have "just do it for me" moments, buy the Digital Rebel XT. You won't regret it.
