I've had a Canon Digital Rebel XT for almost 2 years now, and I love it! My previous camera had an unbearably long start-up time, and the Rebel has virtually none. That's important to me, since a lot of my photos are of a toddler. In the time the old camera took to "get ready," the action I wanted to capture was over. I don't have that problem with the Rebel XT. Turn it on and it's ready to shoot. I'm an advanced amateur photographer, so I like the amount of control I have over the settings for each picture - shutter speed priority, aperture priority, full manual, program modes. My wife, on… read full review »

I just love my Canon Rebel XT.  It is easy to use, the quality of the photos are remarkable. My first day with my Canon I took over 500 photos in 20 minutes.  This camera takes awesome action shots, you can actually see the water flying when taking pics of the kids in the pool.  Or Running shots as they dart across the yard.  You will never miss another photo waiting for your camera to be ready.… read full review »

I love this camera. I am just starting out in the digital SLR world and I wanted a camera that gave me a range of features. The Digital Rebel XTi did just that. I choose this camera because it came with the ability to shoot pictures in manual mode as well providing automatic settings so when I don't want to take the time to set up my picture I can choose on of these settings. I am relatively new to using manual settings, all I learned was in a  photography class in high school over 4 years ago.  Thus this camera has been great because I can either do full manually… read full review »

for the price, this camera is great as an entry level dslr...it has a wide variety of different priced lenses available which have a number of reviews so you can see the quality before you purchase...the lenses also can be used with any eos upgraded body. and canon is a great name and has been around for ever so the likelyhood of not being able to use the lenses is pretty remote. with any dslr you are really buying a system that will last a long time — i  use the "creative" side of the dial to set all your own shutter speed etc but some who are less familiar with dslr would… read full review »

I was raised by a photographer.  My father was in the business for many, many years.  It wasn't until I had my children that I became truly interested in photography.  My father always shot with Nikon, but I find Canon easier to use.  I had several film SLR cameras but decided to bite the bullet and get a digital.  I also worked for Kodak for 5 years.  I love the camera although the kit lens (18-55mm) leaves much to be desired.  My advice, buy the body and invest in a better lens.  After all your pictures are more dependent on the glass they are shot… read full review »

I love this camera!  Before this, we had a very simple digital, one of the first to come out and this was a huge step up!  It takes great photos, and is relatively easy to use.  I say that because if you've never used a 35mm with all the settings, bells and whistles, you could very easily be overwhelmed.  I would recommend taking a digital photography class (came with our camera when we bought it) or planning on spending a bit of time with the manual learning how it works and what all the buttons and such are for.  Once you get the hang of it, WOW!  We basically… read full review »

We recently bought a Canon Digital XT Rebel. It takes AWESOME pictures. The quality of the pictures for digital is just like a professional film camera. You are paying for a name, not a digital camera in my opinion. It is interchangeable with the lenses from the 35MM, that is a nice plus. The camera isn't like the new hand sized ones you can purchase today. The settings on it are easy to understand. You have lots of options with the type of picture you can take, with or without flash, portrait, landscape, close up, night, etc. etc. If you have the $600 or so to spare then by all means… read full review »

I used the Canon Rebel - film version - for years before I switched to digital. Great for amateurs, nice professional camera as well. I bought the first digital Rebel as soon as it was available - my daughter still uses it - the two batteries I bought for it were $75 each and four years later they hold a charge as well as when they were purchased. She is 11 and has used a Rebel from the time that she could hold it in her hands. It is excellent for beginners as well as advanced camera users.  I bought a higher quality, more powerful zoom lens because I am very picky - but… read full review »

I am a serious amateur photographer. I bought my first dslr to photograph basketball games because slr's have little or no shutter lag and are suitable for action photos. I found that the kit lens wasn't a "bad" lens, but wasn't up to the task of indoor, low light photography and soon replaced it with a medium quality Canon ESF17x85 lens which cost $475.00. — With the 17x85 lens I was able to take acceptable photos of indoor sports as long as I used a flash and was close enough. The kit lens is actually faster than the 17X85 ( f 3.5 vs f 4.5 ) so I can only attribute the difference… read full review »

I purchased this camera on the advice from a co-worker who has an erial photography business and has a lot of expierience with different types of cameras.  So I found a great deal on Ebay for a Cannon Rebel EOS XT.  It came with 2 different lenses.  One for everyday photos and one for shooting subjects at a distance like at a ball game, race etc.  I used this camera for the first time at a nascar race and the pictures were awesome.  The Highspeed shutter allowed me to get great action shots at the race.  The pictures were beautiful and crystal clear.  I… read full review »

This was my first digital SLR purchase and I was amazed at the amount of freedom I could have with a digital camera. I hated the small, point and shoot cameras because they could never capture my full intent in a photo. — The camera itself is highly reliable. It captures great images and has a good battery life. The built-in flash is of pretty good quality with photos as well. It has enough, but not too many, pre-set camera modes, and a lot of room for modification. I do not, however, necessarily enjoy the photo dimensions, once they are put on a computer. Perhaps, though, this is… read full review »

I bought mine about six months ago but previously used it when I started my business. The megapixel of the camera is perfect for the quality of pictures that I'm looking for.  I ended up getting mine refurbished but it worked just as good as the one I used new. Very impressed with the resolution . I use mine for every occation from christmas and am still learning new ways to use it with the many buttons and sections of it.  Good price for a digital slr , I have had many camera but I wouldn't ever venture away from canon .  I'm big on different kidns of cameras I have everything… read full review »

I love my Canon Rebel EO5.  It is easy to use from the get-go, but has many deluxe features that you can learn and try.  I love the variety of lenses, filters and accessories available.  The battery life is pretty good, I would suggest you have two, one for back-up.  — One thing that surprised me is you do not use the view screen on the back when taking photos, you will only take them from the eye view-finder. — I was disappointed about that because I wanted to be able to point the camera away from me and gauge my shoot from a larger screen.  Also the… read full review »

I have had great results with this camera.  I hike extensively and do quite a bit of nature photography and also do still life photography in-studio....  This camera suits both needs beautifully.  The only drawback to this product is the unnecessary processing that can be done in the camera.  That is something more easily done on a computer (larger viewing area) with a software program such as Photoshop.  All of the other features are great, however, and easy to use.   I would recommend this product if you are looking for professional looking results. … read full review »

I have loved this camera since the minute I opened the box. I quickly learned the basics of the Canon Rebel and began shooting pictures of anything and everything. I am on a college student's budget and found a very good deal on the camera. It is amazing how I can capture every little detail of my life as a student. I recently went to my football team's national championship game and shot some amazing action shots of the players. I am very pleased with the quality and durability of the camera. I highly recommend the Canon Rebel XT to any amateur photographer. It is lightweight and small… read full review »
