for the price, this camera is great as an entry level dslr...it has a wide variety of different priced lenses available which have a number of reviews so you can see the quality before you purchase...the lenses also can be used with any eos upgraded body. and canon is a great name and has been around for ever so the likelyhood of not being able to use the lenses is pretty remote. with any dslr you are really buying a system that will last a long time
i use the "creative" side of the dial to set all your own shutter speed etc but some who are less familiar with dslr would probably like the auto side that sets everything for you. most of the features found are about the same as most other entry level dslr...with canon the anti shake is in the lens rather than the camera, some feel that is better, but subjective of course.
i had a problem with one of my lenses, it was covered under warrenty and eventually replaced. while i had to twist a few arms they did come through which is what counts in the end imo.
the only features lacking are mainly the spot meter but you can use partial meter pretty much the same..i would also like the small lcd screen to be on top of the camera instead of below the eye piece but that is a minimal complaint. with the xti now available, imo the xt is even a better value as long as you can find one...
