We adopted our Bull Terrier from a family that was unable to keep up with her energy levels, and they told us she was on a very strict diet of Iams. A coworker switched her dog to "the raw diet" after learning that some of the ingredients in commercial pet food were given scientific names to hide the fact that they were animal parts of domesticated and/or euthanized mammals. I knew that feeding our dog strictly raw food would be too much work for our busy life, but I didn't want to feed her the cheapest food I could find - or anything that you could pick up at the grocery store (or even gas station)....
review »Awesome dog food! My girls are very picky eaters, for the longest time they would only eat the Purina crap you buy at the grocery story. They love Canidae. It's the most cost effective dog food you can buy that doesn't have all the fillers in it. I drive an extra 30 minutes away just to buy it. It averages around $1 a pound and it's a really good quality food! Other foods with similar ingrediants cost twice as much. My dogs are 5 and 10 pounds, both a senior and an adult. My parent's dogs also eat it- 15 lb adult and 30 lb puppy.
I definitely recommend this to dog owners who are looking for...
review »We have tried MANY MANY MANY dog foods and done enough research to drive one insane. This is one of the BEST foods available in our area. It is hard to find at times but it is worth it if you can find it. Our dogs (currently we only have 6) LOVE it. We have used a variety of different foods and finally found one that they all like.
After being faithful to Canidae for years they changed the formula and it is just not as good. Dogs had runny loose stool. I don't know what they changed but they sure need to go back to the original formula.
