Campbell's soups have been around longer than I have and my Mom taught me long ago that soup is great for adding to other foods as well as being a bowl of soup on a cold winters day. Being German, Irish and Redneck I was born to experiment in the kitchen, it's in my blood!

Campbell's Cream of Mushroom Soup

I love it by itself with a ham and cheese sandwich but that is not doing it any justice in my book. It is a very hearty soup and being condensed makes it the perfect ingredient for many main dishes as well. I love to use it for Liver and Onions, Salisbury Steak, Baked Chicken, Braised Beef Tips, Mushroom Vegetable Medley and so many more. Take some beef bullion (now they make a Beefy Mushroom version) and butter and then add flour to make a fantastic Beefy Mushroom Gravy. Everyone loves Green Bean Casserole and Campbell's makes it lovable!

As a kid growing up I would eat a can of Campbell's Mushroom Soup as my lunch and remember how good it tasted. Mom always made sure there were enough cans in the pantry because I loved it so much. I even poured it on top of my baked potatoes straight from the can with a dollop of sour cream to top it off.

One serving is 1/2 cup condensed (1 cup prepared)

Bottom Line

Campbell's condensed soups have been a household name in my family for many, many years. It is good as soup or as an extra added ingredient in many foods. I trust them to give me a level of comfort in every can and they do not disappoint. I can remember seeing their recipe ideas on the label and have even made up my own, it is just that Good!

I have never used Campbell's Cream of Mushroom as anything but an ingredient! Never eaten it straight up! I have had fancy cream of mushroom soup tho, which is delish.

I may have been the only child in the world who loved liver - fried with onions. My kids won't even talk about it. Maybe I should try the soup trick.

Kids always love the soup based dishes. Adults probably do too - but just don't say (-: I see jokes about the green bean casserole online, but the casserole bowl sure comes home empty.

I like to do homemade but this one has saved many casseroles!

AnnaBanana wrote on Jun 12, 2008 at 2:35PM

Great review about a great product. Cream of Mushroom soup is also great prepared with a dash of sherry for flavor.

I don't really do casseroles, but I have been known to spread a can of this over chicken breasts and Stove Top Stuffing and then pop the whole thing into the oven for awhile.
