I grew up on Campbell's chicken noodle soup. This was the kind where you had skinny noodles and added a can of water. The chicken - well - I don't know. Not much. The Campbell's Chunky Classic Chicken Noodle soup is certainly a step up.
I've been trying some more of the Campbell's soup offerings. Some I do not like much. The Chunky line is generally where I find soups I do like, and the Classic Chicken Noodle is no exception.
The Campbell's Classic in Chunky is very much like the soup I loved as a kid but so much better now that I have a develped palate (if I do).
The noodles are not strings now. They are broad type noodes and quite generous.
The chicken is not the mica size pieces that were so rare in the old soup. You get a good number of real white meat chicken chunks. I use the spoon and cut them in half so that I have more chicken with more bites of the soup.
As far as the base - the soup - yum. There is not much left after eating the noodles and chicken plus a few carrots. But, I do spoon this to the bottom of the bowl. The flavor is very good.
This is not a health food soup. There are those on the market, and Campbell's does have some. This one is chunky with lots of good stuff and with a great flavor.
Yes. You'll get calories higher than some of the line, and you'll get salt (which seems to come with all canned soups). But, if you want a real comfort chicken soup, then this one is a good bet if you do not want to cook a pot from scratch.
I had some today, and I am tempted to heat up another bowl. It's really good. I like my own soup better, but that's a lot of work. This is as good as any chicken noodle I've tried in a can.
