Cameron Park Zoo is so much more than animals in cages.  It is a natural-setting zoo that tells the story of the animals within their natural environment. — The Brazos River exhibit is quite possibly the best designed series of animal exhibits I've ever seen - and I have been to many of the highest-rated zoos in the country. — My kids have absolutely loved going to Zoo Camp in the summer and going on "behind the scene tours". We love this zoo!  It's not a huge zoo, but it's lots of fun.  It seems like the animals are out and you can always get a good, close look at them. I've seen (and heard) the male lion roaring just a few feet away several times.  This is a great place for kids and has lots of fun extras, like a clear tube slide that goes through the otter exhibit and special little kid level viewing windows.  It's a beautiful zoo with lots shade, which is nice in the middle of summer.
