I have a very allergic golden retriever puppy and discovered California Natural Salmon and peas. Her stomach issues immediately clear up. This is the only dog food I have found that can be used for large breed puppies. She loves it and I actually don't have to add anything to get her to eat it.

Our dog developed an allergy to meat protein early on and so we have limited his diet to fish only. This food has been great for him because it doesn't contain very many ingredients, just herring and sweet potatoes. He had terrible rashes and leftover "elephant skin" from scratching so much before we figured out he was allergic to his FOOD, very sad, and all of it went away after we started using this. He has been eating this for several years now, and he has not developed another allergy, even though the vet said that some dogs develop allergies to whatever food you give them. Another bonus is that his coat is shiny and beautiful, and he is energetic and happy. The only drawback to this food is that it is rather expensive, but California natural does have this great rewards program you can sign up for that gives you your 11th bag free! Also, the food doesn't smell very good (it smells like fish, naturally!) but we keep ours in a plastic sealable container, and it doesn't stink up the house that way!

I've gone through several different brands of food with my 7-year-old Lhasa Apso in the three years since we adopted her, but so far, this one is our favorite.  She is prone to ear infections, so a few years back the vet told me that I should try fish-based food instead of poultry.  We went through a few different brands, including several that were bought at Big Box pet stores.  They were all okay at first, but within a few weeks my dog would get bored with the taste and stop eating.  We tried a grain-free product but it didn't agree with her stomach.  We eventually stumbled on this one when we experienced problems with her previous brand.  We had been feeding her the wet form of this food to stimulate her appetite, and thought it would be okay to try it out when her last food started to make her sick.  We had to switch quickly and I was worried that she might not adjust well.  There were absolutely no side-effects in changing her food!  She likes the taste and eats with fervor now--usually within minutes of my putting down her bowl.  She didn't really ever do that before!  I also like that the product is healthy and uses a lot of real ingredients.  It gets good reviews from pet sites and from the small neighborhood pet shop where I now buy her food.  My only complaint is that it is hard to find unless I buy it from that one place.  But so far, we're happy with it!

We love California Natural for our dogs with allergies. We have a cocker spaniel and a shihtzu bichon mix. They were getting reoccuring ear infections and had itchy feet. I did a bit of research to find a food free of common food allergies in. dogs California Natural's Sweet Potato and Herring was an excellent choice. Our dogs LOVED this food. They gobbled it up each time we refilled thier bowls. I thought it was priced well at our local Mounds store but it was slightly hard to find anywhere else. The smell was a little overwhelming but we got used to it quickly. I would say for anyone searching for a well made food free of crappy fillers, California Natural is an excellent choice. This food really made a difference for our pets. We noticed a reduction in their itchiness and I believe it helped with their reoccuring ear infections. While food is no replacement for proper vet care and regular check ups with your vet, I do believe this food was a great choice.

We received the new member to our family, a weiner dog/pomeranian mix, and immediately took him to the vet.  The vet suggested using a natural, higher quality dog food than the ones readily available on the shelves in the local grocery store.  We decided that we would try her suggestion and went to the pet store we frequented.  We found California Natural and decided to give it a try.  We started our dog out as a puppy on this product and he loved the puppy food.  As he grew up we switched to the small bites size of food and he still loves it.  When we take our dog into the vet she always tells us how good of a product California Natural is, I must say it does feel good knowing that we are doing something good for our dog. The downside is that the food is a little pricey, and as everything does, it has increased in price over the years.  But, unlike other products, California Natural has not skimped on quality in order to save the company some money. This is a high quality product with varieties for many different sizes and ages of dogs.
