The Verdict: I love this bra and will be have a hissy fit conniption if they ever stop making it. It's the best I've found so far and believe me I've tried lots of bras.
Just the Facts: Cacique is a line of underclothes made by Lane Bryant. They can be found in Lane Bryant stores and outlets and on Cacique.com. I have to wear an underwire bra and it seems like I go thru them like water as before too long the wires are poking out at me. I generally get a few more weeks of wear from them by sewing the rips closed but they look like hell when I do that which doesn't make me feel very good about myself. So I end up buying new bras every 2 months or so.
When I first heard about this new brand of intimates I was anxious to try the bras but the prices put me off a little. Regular prices are $24-$28 each so I was reluctant. The ones I usually buy at Kohl's are nearly that price but I can usually get them for half price during sales. Still, I was curious about this new brand so I gave them a try.
One day while shopping at an outlet mall I found a Lane Bryant outlet store and noticed tons of Cacique bras displayed in the window. So I went inside and found this Stretch Cotton bra for only $15 rather than the normal price of over $20.
It fit really well, the material was soft and a bit stretchy, and created a nice comfortable silhouette without any lines or seams in obvious and unattractive places.
It's also quite durable. Not durable like a canvas tent, but stretchable, heavier weight material than most thinly made bras have. The bottom band is wide so it does not dig into my sides. The cups are soft and a bit stretchy. The straps, while not huge and wide, are comfortable and don't dig into my shoulders nor slide off.
It washes nicely as well. I normally machine wash mine in cold water and hang to dry. They usually dry over night but not quite as quickly as a nylon or thin fabric would. In a pinch I've also machine dried this bra and it hasn't shrunk or lost its shape or anything.
Even with machine washing and occasional heated drying, these bras have held up amazingly well. The first two bras I bought were white and blue and they are still in great shape 5 months later and having endured numerous washings and lugging my girls around.
There is a soft but tightly-woven trim on the inside and all around the wires that keeps the wires in their place and not sliding out and poking me in the chest or the armpit.
The only complaint I have about this bra is that my colored ones have faded. I'm not sure why, but the bottom part of the cups is lighter blue than the rest of the bra. I'm not sure if it's due to my body chemistry or my lotions or body washes, but my blue bra has faded some so it looks two tone on the cups. So now I just buy the white ones as the fading does bother me a little.
Closing Argument: This is the best bra I have ever worn. I love the shape it gives me and that I can wear t-shirts over the top and not have seams showing. It holds up really well and no wires have yet poked me which is outstanding considering that that usually occurs after a few weeks with other bras. I highly recommend Cacique. Comes in sizes: 36–46 C 36–46 D 36–46 DD 36–46 DDD.
