In the past I was a Comcast subscriber and switched to Dish Network. Now I have Verizon Fios TV and am very happy with it. For about the same price I paid for Dish, I have HD local channels and a HD DVR. I also receive about 8 channels without a set-top box(and the monthly rental) at two additional outlets I had with Comcast but rarely used. Even my old tv works on those outlets, which did not work with Dish. I also get more channels than I had with Dish, like the Military Channel and National Geographic(HD).
What I don't have anymore is picture outages from wind and rain, or the constant telemarketing from Dish affiliates. For some reason, they thought that annoying current customers several times per week was a good idea.
The only negatives so far is that the Verizon DVR has a lower capacity than Dish (32 hours vs 100 hrs) and that picture in picture is not supported. Customer service reps have told me that both of those are being addressed.
