CVS Advanced Healing Ointment —

I discovered after trying quite a few diaper rash ointments and creams that I liked how well Aquaphor worked but did not like the high price. When I saw CVS Advanced Healing Ointment that said to "compare to Active Ingredient of Aquaphor," I decided to give it a try.

What I like about CVS Advanced Healing Ointment:

  • heals dry, moist, cracked, red, and painful skin
  • starts working pretty quickly
  • lower price than Aquaphor
  • comes in large 14 ounce jar--I keep a jar near the diaper changing table at home and it lasts for a LONG time, depending on how much you need to use it
  • clear--does not tend to stain clothing and does not show if putting on areas that might be seen by others
  • very thick--can produce a barrier to keep moisture out
  • can be used for diaper rash and for lots of other irritated skin areas
  • package claims satisfaction guaranteed or your money back

What I don't like about CVS Advanced Healing Ointment:

  • still expensive to me
  • does not repair skin on contact
  • large jar is not handy for travel
  • cannot heal all rashes (ineffective on yeast and other infections)
  • many of my children's rashes were/are due to food sensitivities and GERD (reflux), so this can help but avoiding those foods/drinks helps prevent the rash

Safety Consideration:

  • not recommended for third degree burns or deep punctures or deep lacerations
  • for external use only

My Viewpoint:

I found CVS Advanced Healing Ointment to be very effective in healing diaper rash. It seems to soothe, help decrease redness, and provides a barrier to moisture, is clear and does not stain clothing, and is very similar to Aquaphor but at a lower price. I tend to use Dr. Smith's a lot for diaper rash, but I continue to use CVS Advanced Healing Ointment at times.

Thanks for reading! This ointment tends to be much thicker than the A&D and tends to provide a better barrier in my opinion.

sounds pretty good. Thanks, i might try this. I usually use an A&D, or a store brand zinc.
