I had been eyeballing the COACH Hampton's Signature Ponytail Scarf for quite some time now.
It wasn't actually the name brand I was after (liar)...I just loved how it looked on my favorite reality star Lauren Conrad.
I had first seen it on her, then of course on the official Coach website. The ponytail holders looked gorgeous, and are made of 100% silk. I wanted one, but I just could not see myself dishing out close to $40.00 for a hair accessory.
I never thought I would dish out $40.00 on a hair tie anyway...however last night I found myself conveniently in a COACH outlet in our local mall. I didn't even bother to look at the price tag when I spotted the scarf. I knew it would hurt my feelings; besides, I already knew the poison.
I was excited, but at the same time a little disgusted that I just literately spent $40.00 + on a piece of silk fabric with Coach logos all over it. Status baby... it's all about status... yeah okay. Whatever.
The closer I got home, the more I wanted to kick myself. Indeed, I just wasted $40 on a frigging hair tie. What's worse is that it is only 35 inches long, which means the tails will not flow with my hair. The tails will simply create a lump in the back of my head, causing a bulge in my hair line.
Anyhow, I got home and went to styling. I planned on tying it around my head in a headband type fashion.
It looked gorgeous. The logos flashing, the feel of the silk.
Then just as I began to admire my 2 inch thick, 35 inch long piece of Coach silk fabric, I noticed a very teeny tiny fray in the material. Dammit!!!!
This made me pissed, because according to Coach, everything is made precise, and if there is a fray, it will be junked. There is no fraying in Coach items. YEAH RIGHT MOMMA!
I went to pull it, and it created a line tear through the entre piece of fabric. It was not very recognizable, but bad enough, especially seeing how expensive the dang thing was.
I cut the fringe, and hid the streak mark at the back of my head. Luckily the fray was not in the middle of the scarf, or Id be fuming.
Besides the fraying, this was not the only thing about the COACH Hampton's Signature Dot Ponytail Scarf that pissed me off.
No less than 10 minutes later the scarf began to move around and slip from my head. No matter how tightly I tied it, it still would slip and fall out of place. It was annoying having to check myself in a mirror every 10 minutes to see if the scarf was still in place.
Silk by nature wants to unravel itself, tying silk is just a pain. If it was a bit longer this wouldn't been much of an issue.
Overall:
I basically bought a mans tie, simple for a freaking logo. At $40.00 the scarf is not worth it. If you truly feel that you NEED to have a COACH brand ponytail holder/headband... I recommend you go for the oblong, which is 60 inches long, vs 35 inches.
The COACH Hampton's Signature Dot Ponytail Scarf comes in 5 different colors, and each one features a cute polka dot pattern at the back. Once again the scarf is 100% silk, feels nice, but is too high maintenance for my liking. Plus throw in some fray... to me it's crap that is going back to the store.
