CHANTIX Review Summary

Quitting smoking is a very tough thing to do. Reviewers who finally kicked the habit have found that CHANTIX was helpful in easing their withdrawal symptoms and helping them to kick the smoking habit. These prescription pills take the enjoyment out of smoking, allowing smokers to ease off of cigarettes without the strong cravings they normally would have. Studlyqy2k says, "Since I have been so successful with chantix several people have started chantix program and so have been successful too." While no medication is side effect free, these pills generally cause only slight side effects in some users, including nausea and stomach pains. CyndiA says the FDA warns, "You may vomit or have vivid nighmares or get majorly depressed even if you've never had problems with that." They can be expensive but many insurance carriers cover the prescription. Want to quit smoking but need help? Check out our other smoking cessation product reviews and take the plunge. Your lungs will thank you.

I was extremely nervous about this product and about quitting in general. I really did not want to do it.  I just knew I had to and I did not want to wait for a doctor to tell me, I was going to die.  The directions tell you that you are allowed to smoke for 7 days which made me relieved.  I did not...

I have tried everything to quit smoking and nothing had worked in the past.  When I heard about Chantix, I was excited and couldn't wait to see my doctor for a prescription.  I really did want to quit, but just needed assistance getting over the addiction.

I took the pill for about six weeks, and I...

i was smoking 3 packs a day for 30 years. i had tried the patch and wellbutrin(zyban) before and was unsuccessful. Then i heard about chantix and my Dr said it wasnt covered by insurance so one day i was on phone with my medicare part D insurance company for another matter and just happened to ask them why dont they cover chantix and they said we do cover that medication all you have to do is get the prescription from your Dr and call this 1-800 number and enroll in the quit smoking program. I had mentioned to them that my Dr had said that no insurance companies cover this med and she said...

I had tried to quit smoking by going cold turkey a countess number of times. These attempts were very short lived and I was in my car heading to get a pack of cigs usually within 24-36 hours. When i decided to try chantix i researched it online and talked to my Dr about it. Chantix isnt cheap but i was fortunate enough for it to be covered by my prescription medicine plan. I started the medicine and made a big mistake, you DO NOT want to take it without eating first, it will make you sick to your stomach if you dont. I actually threw up when I took it on an empty stomach. The first few days you... read full review »

Chantix REALLY works to help you quit smoking. Notice, I said to help you quit. I do consider this a "magic" pill, but you have to do your part, too.

I wasn't 100% on-board to quit smoking. I had already tried to quit 6 times before. I tried cold-turkey, Wellbutrin, and nicotine gum. Each time I attempted to quit, by the third day, I was back to smoking.

If you have ever tried to quit smoking, you know the side effects. It becomes unbearable.

I am a parent of a small child and smoked for well over 12 years. Don't sit here and tell yourself that you have smoked for 40 so it won't work for you....

Short and sweet:  I've smoked a pack to a pack and a half a day for 12 years.  I've made several lame attempts to quit in the past.  One quit was for four months using the nicotine patch....this was a tough four months primarily because I was having to use the "will power method" and still had nicotine in my system.  I've been smoke free now for 27 days and while it's still early yet, I can never imagine picking up another cigarette.  I believe you have to be ready to quit smoking on the Chantix, but it lessons the "wanting to jump out of my skin" feeling or the "I'm so mad at the world I...

I began Chantix on July 21st, 2008.  I advanced to the 'blue pills 2X per day stage', but never took more than 1 per day.  I was having great results taking only one pill and figured why take both if I don't need it?  My doctor agreed.  I smoked for nearly 30 years, I am currently 47 years old.  My OBGYN would not presribe Chantix based on the side effects they 'heard about', not even one personal testimony.  I had to see a urologist because of some bladder infections that would not clear up and I had some blood in my urine.  Turned out to be a kidney stone, but the information I learned...

Chantix does work in a way that is totally different from other smoking cessation aids.  By blocking the neuro receptors in the brain it aids in removing the pleasure that you get for lighting up in the first place.  With other methods, they just provide nicotine in another form and it is dangerous to continue smoking with some of them.  Chantix also offers online support and toll free numbers to help you with the process to stop smoking.

If you take as directed, you will eventually start having physical reactions to continuing to smoke, such as a really bad taste in your mouth, nausea, etc. ...

Chantix sounds like the perfect solution for those who want to quit smoking but can't seem to manage it. Some studies indicate that smoking is more addictive than heroin. Well, I guess it's a little more socially acceptable, so that may be the reason.

The idea with Chantix is that that it gets in your brain and attaches to the receptors that give you pleasure from cigarettes, so you just don't get the nicotene kick after a week on Chantix. That, then, makes it easier to quit. You're not hooked on cigarettes or nicotene  - buy maybe to the Chantix. Who knows? This stuff hasn't been out long....

I am a tobacco counselor  and have been helping people quit smoking for about 5 years. Until Chantix came along, all we had was NRT (nicotine replacement therapy) and Bupropion (Wellbutrin or Zyban). Chantix was and is a welcome addition to the tough task of quitting smoking.

The key here is nicotine, one of the most addictive drugs in the world. Chantix goes after the receptors that scream for nicotine: fools them into thinking they're getting it, then goes on to actually block the effect of nicotine.

Studies from the company initially stated 44 -60% quit rates. Quit rates in our community are...

My husband has suffered two heart attacks, triple bypass surgery and a stroke, each time the doctors told him he had to quit smoking.  When he had his bypass surgery 3 years ago the doctors told him if he did not quit he would be back in surgery within 5 years.  He did not listen to the doctors and continued to smoke.  His reason was that nothing worked and because he smoked for 35 years he could not quit.  He stated he tried everything and nothing would work.  Well about a year ago he became a proud grandfather and decided life was too short and would like to be around to see his granddaughter...

My wife and I were both smokers for over 30 years. Our Dr. recommended that we try the Chantix program and work as a team to support eachother. We did the first week, taking the pills and still smoking, then the second week was pills with no smoking. We both thought we were on the right road and that we had finally found a cure for both saving our health plus money spent on cigarettes. We remained smoke-free for an entire 3 months, but it wasn't easy, especially for my wife. One of the side effects of Chantix is depression and that was what she suffered from. She said there was no reason to drink... read full review »

better than patch or chewing gum, easiest and painless way of quit smoking

I had been looking for a pill to help me stop smoking for ages.   I had heard bad things about another pill (Wellbutrin), but my doctor suggested I try Chantix, as he said it had a high success rate.  Although it is expensive and not covered by my insurance, it costs no more than the patch, which broke me out, and the gum, which burned my tongue.  I was fortunate to get a very good price at my local pharmacy, and I scraped up my pennies and took the plunge.  The recommendation to continue smoking for a few days with this product was an added bonus.   I took Chantix for 6 weeks, rather than...

I QUIT Smoking, after 32 years.. I used Chantix, it worked. It did make me sick some if I didn't eat anything, and it does mess with your sleeping and dreams. Make sure you read the instructions. I quit after 2 months using Chantix. I set my mind to it, set a date to quit, said a prayer. And it is almost 4 months since I smoked. It don't bother me to be around others that smoke, it just lets me see how stupid I was for smoking. I smell things better than I used to. Now I can smell when others smoke, and boy do they stink, and I used to smell like that. It makes me sick to my stomach now to even...

Update:  It's 6 months later and I'm still not smoking.  Some days it crosses my mind, and then it's gone.  The beginning was hard but keep taking it one day at a time, and it will get easier- I promise!

I started Chantix 10 days ago, and I couldn't be happier.  I've been reading blogs online, to see if I could relate to anyone else's experiences, and I'm a bit put-off by the negative comments.  Chantix is a miracle.  It makes cigarettes taste so bad, that you won't want them.  Your cravings become less and less.  However, you do have to want to stop.  The habit of having a cig in the...
