I am a 31 year old female who has smoked for 18 years. I have two children ages 6 and 4. I have tried the patch and medication, but neither worked! I was very serious about quitting smoking, I decided to try chantix. I only took it for a week and within the first week I felt like it was pretty easy to quit. However I had major stomach pains and constipation not to mention horrible dreams. Like I said I stopped taking the medication after a week, because of the not so good symptoms. I figured at this point I was ready to fly solo anyway. A day after I stopped the medication I experienced major anxiety, depression and suicidal thoughts. I missed a day of work and went to the doctors where they gave me a sedative to take as needed , I was scared to say the least. I honestly felt like I was losing it, I couldn't function , I was not myself. This is not something I really care to discuss for obvious reasons, but I want people to be aware of the good and the bad. As I have read these reviews I realize that most people have good results and I am sure that is true but medications do affect people differently, this is just my experience. I have remained smoke free even after all this and plan to stay that way, I am very determined. Hope this helps others to know they are not alone. And If this medicine doesn't work for you, don't give up!!!! You can quit without it !!!!!! Good Luck :-)
