My husband and I went on Chantix in early August.  We followed the regimin carefully and were successfully able to put the ciggarettes down on the 8th day.  This product is alomst a miracle for quitting smoking. You can go through the day with no nicotine whatsoever and not really stress about it. Basically, it made me forget that I ever smoked, and works great for smoking cessation.

Unfortunately, DH and I had to quit taking these pills after about 6 weeks due to the side effects.  The nausea was unreal, everytime we took the pill we were sick for at least an hour afterwords.  DH actually expererienced some vomiting from it. I was late for work a lot because I would take my pill first thing, and have to lie down or dry heave for a while.  The time I took it before leaving the house I had to pull over as I was too nauseas to drive! Also, one thing that drove us crazy was the constipation. It was sooo bad for both of us (not trying to be gross- just forewarning you. Be prepared to become a laxative connesiour). Another side effect that I experienced was insomnia and vivid dreams.

Overall, if you can deal with the side effects this is a great tool for quitting smoking.

I hated the side effects and even more the rah-rah emails and phone calls like from some psycho cheerleader from the company. Ick. I quit cold turkey. No fun that. But better than Chantix.

Thanks for posting your experience, I have to quit and really don't know what to use, have tried patches, wellbutrin. I now must rethink this Chantix. Good luck to you both.

DID YOU EAT BEFORE TAKING THE PILL ?
Hi there. I recently quit smoking completely for 3 weeks now after 16 years, let alone my employers smoke in the office where I work and I live with smokers. I took Chantix for 6-7 weeks and quit smoking completely. At first, I felt nauseous when taking the pill, but, that was because I took the pill on an empty stomach. Once I had some food then took the pill I never expereinced the side effect ever again. I don't know if you ate before taking the pill or not, but, alot of people on here or in general didn't eat before they took the pills and therefore, it caused them to have the effects. It was in the instructions all the while.
Oh. Let me add. I would normally smoke a pack of cigs in 2 days. I considered myself a crack head smoker because I smoked like a crack head needed another hit. I wouldn't smoke the whole cigarette just enough to satisfy my attack that came ever 10 minutes or so. During my duration on this program, I continued smoke everytime I had the urge. But, I smoke less and less each time. I gradually became smoke free. Remember, there is no nicotine in Chantix. It doesn't say you can't smoke, they just rather you didn't. But, this has worked for me and after 7 weeks, I am smoke free

Were you eating before taking the pill? I know when I take it without eating it can be bad but if I take it in the middle of a meal it dosen't make me nauseous at all.
