CD Technology CDT10, Solar Powered Attic Fan Review

As more and more of us are doing what we can to lower our cost of living, maybe this is one you havent thought of yet.

My home was built in 1954, it has an unfinshed attic, the attic is well insulated, but has only two small gable vents. When spring and summer rolls around, I could hold my hand up to the ceiling and feel the heat comeing through the drywall.

We wanted to find a way to combat this problem and give our AC unit a bit of a break. We found several solar powered attic fans searching the internet. We found CD Technology offered a 10watt fan that would suit our needs. There are different sizes depending on the square footage of your home.

The CDT10 model is a gable vented fan, that is very easy to install. It has a solar panel that can be fixed to your roof top or you can position the fan unattached. The CD10 model comes with all you will need to connect and start useing the first day.

In indirect light this fan will run at half speed, full sun will bring the fan to max. We found this fan on Amazon.com at  149 dollars. I truely believe that we have recovered that amount already, as it gets ungodly hot here sometimes. These fans are becomeing more popular and while the CDT10 model seems simple, it does just what you want it to do. Our AC unit has started to cycle off even when its 96 degrees outside. We keep our AC set at 76 degrees and feel quite comfortable inside. I no longer feel the heat comeing off the ceiling.

There are models available that are mounted into your rooftop,much the way skylights are done. If you are worried about holes being cut into your roof, the gable fan would be a perfect solution for you.

The fan seems like the energizer bunny, it just keep going and going and going. This type of product will help you to save money, its built tough and well. Look into this underused way to help the enviroment and to cut down on your  cooling costs.
