CC's Fish Camp - Ft Lauderdale, FL Review

We discovered this restaurant as part of a coupon package sold to support the So Florida DARE program (is a "keep kids off drugs" campaign). 

I grew up in St. Augustine, Florida, which has incredible fresh-from-the-water seafood and multiple choices for really good seafood restaurants.  Unfortunately (surprisingly) most So Florida seafood restaurants are disappointing.  As it was new, and we had a coupon making it very affordable, we decided to give it a try.

What a pleasant surprise.  We shared an appetizer of Crab, Spinach & Artichoke Dip and Chips, which was absolutely delicious, and HUGE!  For dinner I had a "Fried Fishermans Platter" of fried shrimp, clam strips, scallops & cod.  When seeing cod on a Florida menu I've learned not to expect too much, as this is not a native fish and is obviously frozen.  The batter on the shrimp, clams and scallops was very lightly done, the seafood cooked perfectly!  Clam strips are notoriously easy to turn to rubberbands, and they were delicious.  The only downside was the cod, which were hotdog sized (obviously packaged) fishsticks, but they were tasty!  My companion had the Mussels on Linguini, which he loved!

On a second trip, I'll confess to having the same thing, only this time I had a cup of New England Clam chowder, which was very nice.  The platter was just as good as before, however, after having placed my order the server came back to tell me they'd run out of scallops and asked would it be ok to add something else to the plate.  I'd told them I'd be OK with extra shrimp, but instead received callimari, which was also perfectly done!

Overall I'd call this restaurant a winner!
