My first trip to Nova Scotia took me to Bar Harbor, Maine-- to take the CAT Ferry to Yarmouth; and it was comfortable and delightful. It was a smooth ride, with whale sightings, the day I went in June. On the way back in August, the experience was just as good (even without the whales). I sampled food and drink, and both were markedly better than on any other public conveyance I have experienced. I watched others pump the slot machines but spent most of my time looking at the views on the way out and took advantage of one of the "theaters" to see a film on the way back.
The ferry staff couldn't have been nicer and got the cars, motorcycles, and people on and off the ferry quickly and efficiently and could teach the airlines a thing or two. My only disappointment was that the ferries don't run all year, so I will have to find another way to go between October and June.
