Burt's Bees Super Shiny Natural Lip Gloss —

To the Point

I was reading reviews on Burt's Bees Super Shiny Natural Lip Gloss (here and elsewhere)and feel as if I am using a different product. I disagree with the positive reviews of Burt's Bees "100 % natural" Lip Gloss.

A Closer View

I paid close to $7.00 for this .5 ounce tube primarily because it is not tested on animals. Actually that is probably the only reason since there are many lip glosses on the market for a lot less money.

I bought nectar nude. It also comes in pink, berry and red.

The Pros:
  • I have no problem with the color. The nectar nude is very subtle which is fine for me since I wanted it as a light gloss.
  • Burt's Bees does not test on animals.
  • It smells nice.
Cons:

  • Let's start with the tube. It is hard for me to squeeze the gloss out. I much prefer a sponge tip or a roller or just a regular stick. When I squeeze and manage to get some Lip Gloss out it doesn't come out smoothly. I often get a clump that I then rub on my lips. I'd prefer to not have to use my fingers.
  • I don't find Burt's Bees Lip Gloss to be particularly moisturizing nor does it give me a "beautiful sheer color gloss." http://www.burtsbees.com
  • I don't find Burt's Bees Super Shiny Natural Lip Gloss long lasting.

Other information:

  •  Burt's Bees Super Shiny Lip Glass has Sweet Almond Oil, which comes right from the almost. It is supposed to be very hydrating which I find it is not though I do find that it gets absorbed quickly.
  • The ingredients are Ricinus communis (castor) seed oil,, helianthus annuus (sunflower) seed oil, acacia decurrens flower wax, phytosteryl canola glycerides, silica, flavor, prunus amygdalus dulcis (sweet almond) oil, tocopherol, glycine soja (soybean oil). May contain: mica, iron oxides, titanium dioxide, carmine (from the website)
Jo's Viewpoint

I would never buy Burt's Bees Shiny Lip Gloss again. I would look elsewhere for a product not tested on animals if I wanted to go that route. I would spend more money to get the shiny gloss I want. This isn't it.

I have the Burt's Bees Super Shiny Lip Gloss in Zesty Red and I love it! The color is nice...a dark enough tint that it can be worn alone...not at all frosty. The scent is fabulous. I have dry lips in the colder winter months, and this gloss does infact moisturize my lips. I am sorry it didn' work for you, Jo. However, i find it to be a wonderful addition to my own personal skincare/cosmetic collection. I alos love the Burt's Bees - Almond Milk Beeswax Hand Creme for my dry hands and rough ankles and elbows. It works very well on my Eczema. I use Burt's Res-Q for my daughter's dry nose which bleeds horribly. This ointment coats her nose/nostrils and we haven't had a bleed since using it! Also, the Radiance Night Creme with Royal Jelly is a Godsend! I have been using it for just about a week and my dry skin is noticeably improving!! Jo, I hope you find something that works as well for you!! Good luck!

This has to be better than the Burt's Bees lip gloss in the glass jar. That is just awful in every way. Sometimes Burt is really disappointing.

Burt's big right now, but I'm not overly impressed with his stuff either. The cost bothers me too.

I've never found any products in the Burt's Bees line to work well for me. I guess I'll skip this one as well. :)

Doesn't sound like it is worth the price even if it is animal friendly, sorry it didn't work for ya Jo....;)

I have found that my daughters (kiddie) lip gloss, with the roller ball, is way better than any of mine. Hers is not sticky, which I love... and hers tastes great. She got a variety pack and she gave me the Mango flavored one! ;-)

Sorry this product didn't work for you. I have never used any Burt's Bees products and I couldn't fork out $7 for lip gloss although I do love a good gloss! Hope you find the gloss that's just right for you ;+)
