We don't camp all that often but we do it at least a couple of times a year. I have a little first aid kit that I bring with us when we go and inside of it I always keep a bar of Burt's Bees Poison Ivy soap, because you never know when you or someone who is with you might accidently rub against some poison ivy, especially when you are out hiking. My dad has a second home in a forest area so he is the one that gave me the first bar of Burt's Bees Poison Ivy soap. I was certainly grateful that I had that, when the time came that I actually needed it.
I remember laying in my sleeping bag, which is never that comfortable anyways, and I was itching, and itching, eventually I fell asleep but in the morning it was obvious that both my youngest son and i had come in contact with some poison ivy. He actually went off of the path for a brief second and of course I just off myself to grab him, that must have been when we got it. I didn't see it, but I was concentrating on my son.
I knew it was time to hit the bath house with the Burt's Bees poison ivy soap for both me and my son.
Burt's Bees poison ivy soap has a natural active ingredient called Pine Tar - Pine tar is used extensively in the treatment of skin afflictions because it is soothing and antiseptic. It also contains jewel weed which helps it to relieve itching and irritation. It also has tree seed oil that helps protect the skin.
Ingredients:
Vegetable soap base, vegetable glycerin, oat protein, kaolin (natural clay), tea tree oil, pine tar, garden balsam leaf (jewelweed).
This soap is 99.82% Natural
When you first use it you should first shower with the soap and clean your self, then apply it again and leave it on. You should do this 3 or 4 times a day until the irritation goes away. It feels really good when you use it. It helps stop the itching and irritation. It was like a glass of ice water on a hot day, just very relieving.
Burt's Bees poison ivy soap comes in a little 2 oz bar, it is not big, but it is a nice size for packing, especially if you are only carrying a small back pack when hiking or camping. The bars cost around $5.00.
The soap is not pretty it is actually a really ugly brownish color. It also does not smell good. However, if you are in such a state of itching that you need to use this soap you will not care how it smells or looks you will just be very grateful for the relief.
This soap really works, by day 2 i was feeling a lot better, and by day 3 I was almost completely better. Plus when ever I bathed with it or applied it to my wet skin it felt so good and took away my discomfort.
If you are going camping or hiking bring a bar of this with you, it certainly can't hurt to have it with you, and if you need beleive me you will be really glad you have it. It works, I highly recommend this.
