I'm a sucker for things in the impulse item section of drug and grocery stores. It's a rare occasion that I can get out of a store without buying something on display at the register. Such is the case when I go to Whole Foods Market. I cannot get outta there without picking up a fair trade chocolate bar or a Burt's Bees lip product. I love Burt's Bees Lip Balm. It is my favorite, and I use it daily...or hourly. It took me awhile to fall in love with the Lip Shimmers version. I thought I would fall in love immediately. The packaging is cute, the color names looked cute. One day, having left the without my Lip Balm I was going crazy. So I took the opportunity to grab a Watermelon Lip Shimmer while I was at the bookstore. The first thing I noticed was that the color was not the same as what you would expect from the packaging. Due too my pale skin. many lip colors look very dramatic on me. I decided to try Burt's Bees Lip Shimmers in Watermelon after my sister could not stop talking about it. I tried the gloss and I was very pleased! It made my chapped lips extremely soft. The color isn't over-the-top either. Let me start by saying, I love Burt's Bees. I'm all for the natural products. I really like how it feels going on, gives your lips a little "tingling" feeling. It smells and tastes great. I love trying new products. My lips are very sensitive and do not respond well to many products. These skinny tubes of fun color + lip balm are so much cooler than lipstick. The peppermint feels fabulous and when it fades, you know your color is gone too. Mine lasts for a couple or three hours, usually. — I always have a tube or three in my purse. (And it's true, since it's more of a balm than a lipstick, you can put it on without a mirror!) — They seem more sensitive than most lipsticks to heat though, and maybe I don't use them fast enough too. I had heard of Burt's Bees products before but never bought anything until I found these lip shimmers. Everything I had heard was positive, but there was no area I felt I needed a product I couldn't find elsewhere just as good and at a better price. I simply love this stuff! I hate lipsticks, they dry my already-dry lips out, and lip glosses are too greasy and don't last. This stuff is just fine on it's own or layered over a lipstick, to add gloss and a little moisture, and it is less expensive than regular lipstick, so I can use it a lot. It comes in tons of colors (although the best, papaya, sells out fast, so stock up!) Burt's Bees lip balm is a favorite of mine, so I picked up a few tubes of this lip shimmer to try. The lighter color is perfect, I keep it at my desk for a little color, shine, and protection throughout the day. The darker color was a disappointment. It doesn't look good just putting it on. You have to take the time to work it in as it seems to be too thick and parts of my lips are coated with color and the rest are not. The color is also much darker than I thought when I bought it. I'm from the mid-west and winter here can be very damaging to your skin. Everything gets so dry that even your lips need moisture. Before finding Burt's Bee's I had to give up lipstick for chap-sticks. A woman without lipstick might as well not bother with the rest. I feel almost naked without my lipstick.
