Guess I should explain what I mean by "it does not like me". I've used it for many months now, and my personal experience with Burt's Bees Lip Shimmer is that after an afternoon or a day of wearing it on my lips, always without fail: my chin area right below my lower lip will have a break out. Frustrating.
It really disappoints me to report that, and believe me I have tried to work around it, for instance, just applying the lip shimmer color to my upper lip only. But it can get awkward looking, having just half your lips with color the other half nothing.
I can only conclude that something in the all natural ingredients is just too oil inducing for my combination skin, specifically the chin, which does tend to be a problem area for me. But this is the first ever lip stick product that, after using it, consistently has seemed to lead to break outs or a pimple popping up in that zone.
Another thing I did not care for about the Lip Shimmer is, although it feels like it glides on smoothly, it doesn't really appear that way. On closer inspection, I noticed that the color tends to settle a bit too heavily into the lip creases. It's sheer but it kind of looks unevenly applied on my lips and even a tad bit waxy. Maybe I got a bad stick?
The color of Burt's Bees Lip Shimmer I have is Rhubarb. First off, the Rhubarb color is a little intense. It is rather different on the lips than what the cap color looks like. It is slightly deeper than a bright fuschia, once applied. Only certain really fair complexions would look good with this particular color, so it's best to test it first before actually using it on a regular basis. I think a browner hue would have been better for me, as I am more of a medium rather than fair skin tone.
After application, it has a very nice cooling peppermint feel on the lips. The minty tingle does last for a little while. Not too many lip products I am aware of have that unique feature. The lip shimmers are sheer and 100% natural. They all have the same minty flavor, regardless of hue. It has some mica in it to give a soft almost imperceptible shimmer.
As you might expect, I probably would not purchase the Lip Shimmer unless the formula has changed and won't irritate my lower lip and chin area. But in general Burt's seems to be a good company with quality stuff, so I would be happy to try a different lip product of Burt's Bees in the future.
