Burt's Bees products are a hit or a miss with me.  They are either too waxy or have a weird scent.  The Burt's Bees Lip Shimmer is neither of those, but it isn't an ideal lip balm for me.  Although some features are nice, I'm afraid this is going in my "miss" pile.

I bought the Burt's Bees Lip Shimmer in the color champagne, which is a faint, baby pink.  I was under the impression that the color would be sheer since the packaging says "Luminescent and sheer color in The World's Best Lip Balm", but it was shimmery and frosty.  I normally hate frosty lips, but I use only a little bit on top of lipstick and it looks decent.

The feel of the Burt's Bees Lip Shimmer is smooth and minty in the beginning.  After the lip balm wears off, you are left with bits of frost and shimmer on your lips.  I like the way it makes your lips tingle and that it is 100% all natural and not tested on animals, but the frost and texture left behind on my lips is unpleasant.

Ingredients: sunflower oil, castor oil, beeswax, candelila wax, lanolin, cocoa butter, vitamin E, peppermint oil, carnauba wax, comfrey root extract, rosemary extract.

The Scoop!

The minty feeling on my lips is nice, but I just don't care for the frosty look.  I don't know if all Burt's Bees Lips Shimmer colors are frosty or if it is just the "champagne" color, but I probably wouldn't buy another one.

Sometimes I think people are not interested in the ingredients that are in the products I review, but I like to know what is in products I want to buy, so I list them anyways. Thanks for compliment!

Good review, and thank you for listing the ingredients I happen to be allergic to rosemary, lemon grass, nettle, and soy... and really have to check natural products carefully...sometimes even the all natural good for you stuff can get me!

Krista said that she didn't like them either. I was willing to try a different color, but not anymore!

I got so excited when I saw your review, because this is a product I haven't seen yet! But.....now, it doesn't sound so hot so I know to avoid it. I'm glad you reviewed it!

If you like minty, the Burt's Bees regular lip balm is nice. It is a little waxy, but super minty, which I like. Thanks for letting me know about the other colors, I have been wondering about them.

The pack I got had 4 colors. The other colors were coffee, raisin, and merlot. They are not as frosty as the champagne, but the colors were just too dark for me. This was my first Burt's Bees product I have ever bought.

Hi Krista! Thanks for stopping by.

I've been curious. Are the other colors frosty like champagne is?

I have a pack of the Burt's Bees lip balms. Needless to say, I hate them. They are too shimmery for me. One of them was the champagne color.

This sounds like one of those things which tend to "eat off" as you dine, no matter how carefully you try to be. Great review!

I hate sparkles and shimmer too. This product is worse - it's a frost! There are only 2 Burt's Bees products that I have really liked so far and this isn't one of them!

I love glossy but can't handle anything that has any hint of sparkles for the shimmer. I still haven't invested in a Burt's Bee product. ~Gigi ♫
