Burt's Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle creme 0.6 oz. —

To the Point

My daughter gave me some Burt's Bees products for my birthday. I reviewed  Burt's Bees Beeswax Lip Balm. Burt's Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Crème is one of the other products I got.

Pros

  • It's not tested on animals
  •  Nice ingredients including lemon oil which comes from the peel of the Citrus Lemon tree. The oil from the peel is "known from its astringent and anti-irritant qualities." http://www.burtsbees.com. Some of the other nice things in it include sunflower seed oil, cocoa seed butter, and rosemary leaf oil.
  •  We are told it softens cuticles and makes our nails stronger. Burt's Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Crème's beeswax seals in the oils of the other ingredients.
  • The yellow tin can be used for other things (pennies?) and can be recycled.
  • It can be applied as often as I want.
  • The smell is nice if you like Pledge Lemon Furniture polish!
  • I read that to get nail polish off (When I have my nails done professionally getting the polish off at home is hard.) rub cuticle crème on. So I have been using Burt's Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Crème's and the polish does come off easier.
  • Lasts a long time

Cons

  • The price - At about $6.00 for a .6 ounce tin that's a lot; however, the others probably will be tested on animals.
  • The tin is hard to open. If you have any problems like arthritis you do not want to buy this!
  • It has to be used a finger which should be clean and it then gets under my nails. I do what others have suggested. Rather than scrape it so that it gets under my nails I am now getting it from the front of my nail.
  • It melts and then freezes if it's in the car.

Neither a Pro or Con

  • The smell - I made a joke of it but it really isn't unpleasant. It smells like lemons which I like.

Jo's Viewpoint

I use Burt's Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Crème as directed i.e. I rub it into my cuticles and nails during the day and before bed. I haven't seen any improvement in my nails at all. They are not any stronger than they were but my cuticles do feel soft and moisturized. It's expensive but since it helps take off my nail polish and makes my cuticles soft and less apt to crack I would buy it.

I've been thinking about trying this. Thanks for making the point about the arthritis - one more thing for Kevin to open.

In response to GigiandAdonai's comment from Feb 22, 2009 at 11:42AM:

I used to get acrylics but with our hiking and then I'd have to make time for it I took them off.

I prefer the Orange Pledge ;+) You know how I take my nail polish off? I take the nail off ;+) I get my nails professionally done, acrylics or I do the artificial nails. I'm a habitual nailbiter but am also vain about beautiful nails. Thus, my quick cure all.

My mom has told me about this product. She uses it all the time. Her cuticles are always splitting. As long as she keeps the "Burt's Bees on it helps. =)
