Burt's Bees Hand Salve Review

Burt's Bees is usually at the top of my list for good quality products.  I like the fact that they are made from natural ingredients, and although they are expensive, I will pay the price because they are THAT GOOD.  But.......

I was given a gift of miscellaneous Burt's Bees products.  One of them was the hand salve.  Now, maybe it's because the container is so small (.30 oz), but it was almost impossible to get into!  The top didn't turn loose, it was hard to grip, and I couldn't pull it off.  I eventually had to grab a towel to get some traction on it, and force the top off. 

Once I finally had the thing opened, the smell hit me.  It wasn't pleasant.  It certainly wasn't the worst thing I'd ever smelled, but it didn't have that yummy, "I'm going to feel so pampered by this product" smell either.  The featured ingredient of Burt's Bees Hand Salve is Olive Oil.  I guess that's a good way to try to start describing the smell.  Olive Oil, Rosemary, Bee's Wax, and soybean & canola oil.  Mix them together and you get a weird aroma.

I have to say that this is, by far, one of the greasiest things I've ever applied to my hands.  I was afraid to touch anything after I put it on!  My suggestion would be to have a pair of soft gloves handy.  I think if you used this product right before bedtime, and let it do it's thing within the safety of gloves...you'd be okay.  (Oh, and GOOD LUCK getting the lid back on the container after you've used the salve!)

Now, on the upside, the hand savle did make my hands feel better.  But it took a LONG time to dry, and then when I washed my hands later, it felt like a lot of it came off. 

Obvioulsy, this stuff is expensive.  All Burt's Bees products are.  I priced around, and for about $ 9.00, you can get a 3 ounce container of Hand Salve.  My honest opinion is, IF you're going to try this stuff, be sure to also purchase a set of manicure gloves too.
