Being in foodservice, you become familiar with commercial brands. I always loved the coffee in our restaurant and wanted the same quality at home. I purchased my first Bunn Coffeemaker made for home use about 15 years ago, and I have never been sorry. I always get a great cup of coffee and find the Bunn is faster than most other makers.
Bunn heats and maintains the water at 200 degrees, where most other coffee makers bring the water to a boil. Water is distributed evenly over the ground coffee and restaurant quality coffee is brewed in 3 minutes.
To set up the Bunn, place the coffee pot on the burner, fill plastic pitcher with water, pour into the coffee maker until it starts to run into the pot, then plug it in and turn it on. It takes about 15 to 20 minutes to heat the water. Place the filter and coffee in the basket pour water through the top and in 3 minutes you will have restaurant quality coffee. Since I am the only one in the house drinking coffee right now, I make only a half pot and it still turns out delicious. There are 2 switches on the coffeemaker. The one on the side turns the unit on and heats the water. The only time that I turn this one off, is when I go away for a few days, as the heated water will evaporate. The other is in the front and heats the warming burner where the pot sits. Turn the front switch off when the coffee is gone or you may scorch the pot. My pot is glass, just like the ones we used in the restaurant. I find it easy to clean with a little soap and water. If it does not come clean with general cleaning, baking soda works great.
To maintain the quality, the Bunn comes with a spring to ream out deposits and build up in the water line periodically. Clean the spray head during your maintenance. I learned with the first Bunn to use filtered water because of the lime that was in our water. Since I have a water filter on the drinking water at the sink it's easy. In using the filtered water I find there is not much build up in the line. With my first one, over time the lime caked the inside of the maker and did not heat the water. The Bunn Corp. was so nice. I sent them the coffeemaker and they reconditioned it for me. In the mean time, I couldn't go without my coffee, so I bought a new one. That was probably 9 or 10 years ago. I haven't had to use the old Bunn, but it's there in back up if I have the need.
The price I paid for my first Bunn was about $100. Unfortunately, inflation has caused the price to go up. Now they are somewhere around $150. However, I expect to be using my current Bunn for another 10-20 years. I find that Bunn puts the same quality into their home units as they did in the commercial ones.
Their new products  meets the needs of  today's consumer. Bunn GRX is similar to the one I own. The Bunn BTX comes with a thermal carafe, to keep the coffee hot and make it convenient to use at the table. If you are a one cup at a time drinker, check out Bunn's My Café Brewer, that one takes the pods and brews in 30 seconds.
