I have been using cloth diapers since my son was born (he's 2 now). I'm a full time working mom, so I made the choice to use a diaper service and diaper covers, which works quite well for us. We bought about 7 or so covers, and rotate through them, washing them as needed, and we let the diaper service handle the big messes.
In the beginning I tried several different diaper covers, but have found these to be the best for my son. They seem to fit pretty true to size (he is 28 lbs and can still fit a medium which is for 15-30 lbs). He's never been a real chubby guy, always pretty average in weight, so I can't say how well these will work for those of you with babes who have adorable chunky-monkey thighs or tummys.
The covers are excellent at keeping leakage at bay. Occasionally, when he is really soaked, there might be some leaks, but that is a need to change him problem, not a diaper cover problem. At night, I use a large cover, rather than medium, and put in two diapers, and he can go all night long with no leaking whatsoever. Even messy blow-outs stay contained within the cover.
The covers have shown good all around durability, though I am noticing a few of my older covers have lost some stitching around the leg and elastic is showing through. I think this is probably because I am not the most careful washer, and will wash them in the regular cycle and occasionally they will accidentally go through the dryer. No problems at all with the Velcro, it still fastens just like it did two years ago.
This has been a very good diaper cover brand for us, and worth the extra money.
