My daughter Abigail had this seat and we/she loved it.  We got the seat when she was about 4 months old-even though she was not sitting up all the way on her own.  Even though she still loved to sit in it with blankets stuffed around her. Eventually, she was able to sit on her own but still loved her Bumbo.  I think it was because she was surrounded by cusion and felt secure.  I would sit her on the kitchen counter while doing dishes or preparing dinner and she would just watch me in amazment.  Eventually, she was able to wiggle enough to get out of it so we had to pass it down to another family member.
