Usually I write a nice little intro to a product on here, but today is not one of those days. Nope. I'll make it short and sweet this time: Bumbo is great but it's also not for everyone.
What is it? It's just a chair that is molded to fit your baby's body and let her sit down with the rest of the world long before she can be really sit up on her own. You can even buy a nice little tray for her to use.
My Experience? Okay, here's the deal - my daughter was a chunky monkey when she was an infant. She had the thunder thighs, the little belly rolls. She was everything that a baby was supposed to be! To me, the bumbo was just a nice accessory that was use MAYBE 3 times. She liked it, but it took a bit of maneuvering to get her in there. By the time she was interesting in crawling, she had no desire to be in that thing.
Far too many parents seem to think that the Bumbo is just a babysitter. It's not. You can't just leave your baby in it and leave the room. Sorry, but not. Parents like that are the reasons it was pulled from the shelves in early 2009 to have a larger disclaimer put on.
Overall
It's a toss up. Everyone seems to think that this is THE hot item you need to get new parents or even your own infant. It's not. If you can get it for less than $5, then it's worth it. If you have to buy it retail or pay for as much as some people believe it's worth, you're in for a shock. I'm sure some babies love it, but it's just not worth it for my family.
