BullFrog SPF 30 Sunblock/repellent sounded like a good idea.

3

BullFrog Mosquito Coast SPF 30 Sunblock with Insect Repellent sounded like a good idea in the store. BullFrog makes what I consider "industrial strength" sunblocks. If I am going to be outside in the sun for extended periods of time, I like to use BullFrog because I feel it really does block the sun very completely and for a long time. We had planned an outing where sunblock and insect repellent were both required. I thought this would be a great alternative to using two separate products. I smelled it in the store before I bought it and I thought it would be ok. But when I actually applied it to my skin, I did NOT like the scent at all! I realize that it isn't going to smell like any typical sunblock. I guess the insect repellent part of the formula is what required the bad smell! It did work very well as a sunblock. I knew that it would. But even though I thoroughly covered myself with the product, I still got two mosquito bites. So I ended up having to live with the unpleasant smell and I still got bitten! To be fair, maybe the product really worked and if I didn't use it, I might have gotten more bites. But next time, I'll try something else!

Very strong chemical smell, does not work well

2

After using a combination sunscreen/insect repellent for my toddler, I decided to try a combination product on myself. I found the BullFrog Mosquito Coast SPF 30 Sunblock with Insect Repellent at my local drugstore and thought it would be a good thing to try. I am very disappointed in the results. First, this product has a very strong chemical smell. The odor absorbs into my clothing and leaves my skin smelling like chemicals as well. Second, the insect repellent is not very effective at all. I still got numerous mosquito bites when I used this product and it did not do a good job at repelling the insects from my skin. Finally, the sunscreen was not very effective at all. My skin burned from the sun's rays and this product caused my skin to break out in a rash. Overall, I do not recommend BullFrog Mosquito Coast SPF 30 Sunblock with Insect Repellent. It is not an effective product and is not worth the money.

Pump style application nozzle makes my fingers tired

4

BullFrog Mosquito Coast SPF 30 Sunblock with Insect Repellent works well and smells fine but the application must be done by repeatedly pressing the spray pump on top. Each press of the plunger gives you a small amount of coverage and you need to keep pressing over and over until you have covered every inch (while rubbing it in). This is very time consuming and tedious. I prefer the continuous spray kind when I am going for a spray on sunscreen. The smell is not unpleasant, it is typical for a liquid squirt-on sunscreen in the fact that it has a bit of an alcohol scent. Scent BullFrog Mosquito Coast SPF 30 Sunblock with Insect Repellent smells fine, there is a hint of an alcohol type scent. Absorption BullFrog Mosquito Coast SPF 30 Sunblock with Insect Repellent absorbs just fine when you rub it in. Longevity BullFrog Mosquito Coast SPF 30 Sunblock with Insect Repellent lasts mostly all day long. I never tried it under water. Effectiveness BullFrog Mosquito Coast SPF 30 Sunblock with Insect Repellent works well and kept me from getting a sunburn under the hot summer sun. Ease of Application BullFrog Mosquito Coast SPF 30 Sunblock with Insect Repellent is a pain in the neck - pain in the finger - to apply since you need to press the pump over and over to get enough sunscreen to cover your skin.

Great For Mosquitoes But Not For Horseflies

5

I am a walking bug buffet. If there is a spider, horsefly, wasp or bee in the area it zones in on me. Someone suggested trying this when the mosquitoes were breeding in the area and I was getting about ten new bites a day. After using the snap bands and citronella candles to try to keep them away from me, I was desperate for some relief. At the time there was only one version of the product on the shelf, the one that I originally wanted in the pump spray bottle was sold out so I went with the taller, thinner continuous spray bottle. I was a little skeptical about how well this was going to work but I have to admit that it kept the bugs away. I would still get the occasional bee buzzing around but I got no new mosquito bites when I was using this. To get the most from it you do need to reapply it about once an hour; the bottle says that it provides 80 minutes of protection but when I tried to stretch it out that long I would get one or two mosquito bites. Better to be on the safe side than to spend the night scratching or applying calamine lotion. The only insect that this didn't deter was the horseflies. They are brutal and once they lock in on your scent there's little that you can do to get rod of them outside of hitting them with a flyswatter or having a can of insect spray within arms reach. Thankfully this area only has a massive horsefly presence for about three weeks in the summer but it is enough to keep some people inside their homes for that period of time. I wish that this worked to keep the horseflies away but it didn't. Even so, it helped me keep the mosquitoes away and that was worth it. The only time I have seen this in local stores is before the summer starts and during the summer; I am sure that if I lived in an area that had warm weather year round it would be easier to find outside of the April to August time frame. I have tried both versions and prefer the manual pump bottle over the continuous spray but I will buy either of them when I am running low on it. Longevity They say it lasts for 80 minutes but I apply it every hour.

Thumbs down for this product!

While on our family trip to the beach, my sister bought this for all of us. Once we were at the beach we all put some on, and it was horrible! My sisters son face swelled up and became bumpy, it looked felt like a thick white paste, and the smell was so gross, I did not like this sunscreen and neither did my family! The sunscreen "paste" would not absorb at all into my skin! We all had to wipe off our sunscreen, throw the bottle away, and take my sisters son to the lifeguard. He had never had a problem with sunscreen before, just this one. He was fine after a day, but we have been cautious with sunscreen since then, and he has not had a problem with any sunscreen since then. Overall I would not recommend this to anyone especially if they have kids who might be allergic. Not using bullfrog sunscreen ever again! Well good luck, I really hope you don't risk anything and purchase this sunscreen.

Not the best

1

I used this when we were on vacation last summer. In my opinion it did nothing! I still got a horrible sunburn and I don't burn easy. As a insect repellent it was even worse. We still had a major issue with biting flies and mosquitoes. It did nothing that it said it was supposed to do.

Trying to find an insect repellant with NO DEET in it is like trying to find a needle in a haystack. but finally I found the Bull frog spray. So glad I did. My daughter had a recation to a namebrand deet containing bug spray and I felt so bad because I DID THIS.. to her.. I was beginning to think my only option to keep her from being mosquito bait was to keep her inside all the time and what kind of fun is that for a child. I looked and looked and found the bull frog spray and love how easy it is to use. Just a few sprays and rub it in and she's off love that it has some SPF sunscreen in it as well every little bit helps. but my drawback as well I can not for some reason use sunscreen it always has the opposited effect on me and results in blisters that develop into keloid type scars :( I would love to see a sunscreen free bull frog spray I can't be the only one out there that has this problem but in the same way I hope I am because I wish that pain on no one..

A sunscreen and bug spray in one is very convenient

This sunblock was very useful for my mountain vacation! My boyfriend and I had gone hiking and I just knew there were going to be lots of bugs. It was also pretty sunny outside. Bullfrog Sunscreen to the rescue! I sprayed it on right before we hit the trails. The smell wasn't as pleasant as I would like (a bit strong and medicine-y in my opinion), but at the time I cared more about it working than about how it smelled. It did its job. I usually get bitten everywhere whenever I'm in a wooded area, but not a single bite showed up on me after we got back. Now my boyfriend uses it whenever he does yard work. Having sunscreen along with insect repellent is a very smart idea. This would be very useful for campers, hikers, or any other outdoor activity. Just remember that like any other sunscreen, it should be reapplied every few hours, depending on how long you are outdoors. Do that and you're good to go. Scent Very strong smell that I didn't find very pleasant

Bullfrog spf30 gets a thumbs up from me and my family.

My family and I always use Bullfrog spf30 when we are spending time at the lake. The lake is a 20 minute drive, and we apply it before we leave. By the time we get to the lake, the sunscreen has absorbed into our skin enough to be ready to go. We focus on the parts of us that are the most likely to burn. For my husband, he likes to float on his fish mattress and relax, so using Bullfrog spf30 on his face and every part of his front is a must. I use it all over myself and the grandkids. It is great that it comes in different forms. We currently use the lotion, but it came with a free sample of Bulldog in a spray formula. We really loved the convenience of the spray. We even use it on our faces, just close your eyes and spray. We used up the spray first because it was so easy to use compared to the lotion. When we run out of our current Bulldog spf30 lotion, we are going to get the Bullfrog spf30 spray. We don't even bring sunscreen to the lake with us, because one application is good for hours of lake fun. Bullfrog spf30 handles the local pests and keeps them away. It doesn't feel greasy or irritaing to the skin. I have multiple skin diseases and this is one of the few products that I can use without breaking into a rash.

I did not really care for the product. It ran into my eyes and made it sting. Then when I apply it on the skin you have a thick type of white paste on the skin. Dont like the smell either. Tried it out when I visited Florida and was not impressed
