So my sister dragged me into  the Build A Bear store today. I've walked past it a lot, but never went in. I heard it was expensive because everything you add to your bear costs money. So I stayed away, but not today! My 19 year old sister has 6 build a bears and wanted another one, so I went in there and found out it really isn't that much money! Don't get me wrong, it can be! You buy the animal "skin" and then a helper adds the fluffy stuffing and a heart, which you have to rub in your hands, make a wish, and kiss. O.k., so I know that's a little embarrassing for a 27 year old to be doing,...

Since I now have two little girls, I often look for new things to buy them and that means visiting web sites that I hadn't used in the past. One site that is newer to me but that I have grown to enjoy is Buildabear.com, a web site that allows shoppers the opportunity to shop for stuffed animals and add special customization.

Web Site Commentary:

Buildabear.com offers products and services in several categories. Most people come here looking to buy a stuffed animal, but there are other products, too, like clothing, shoes, accessories (like sunglasses, backpacks, pillows, etc.), gift cards, and...

Build- A Bear was a wonderful experience for my family! As soon as you enter the shop you are greeted by a child friendly atmosphere. You have a large selection of stuffed animals to choose from. The least expensive bear was only 10 dollars. After you choose your bear,  you go the the next station to have your bear stuffed. The children also get to add a heart inside their bear for no additional charge. Choosing the outfits for the bears was the most exciting part because the shop has a large selection of outfits fitting any personality type you can think of. You can make your bear a hockey... read full review »

My pomeranian is the same width as a build a bear. We dress him up in the holiday costumes and take pictures of him. We then make them into postcards and send them out to the kids. So far, he has the following build a bear costumes- Tuxedo, Pilgrim, Atlanta Braves, Pirate.  It is a cheaper solution than buying costumes made for dogs.

I do have to say I love me some build a bear! I love how friendly everyone is there and how well they are with children. I think that it is fantastic how the child can pick the skin of the bear or any animal you want.I do think that is awesome b/c if you don't want a bear you do not have to have a bear you can get a dog, cat, monkey or whatever else they have.Once the child or adult ;) pick out the skin you go over to a machine that has stuffing for the animal  going around and around you get to pick a heart and love it they put it in the animal fill it up with stuffing and stitch em up.Then you... read full review »

I love build-a-bear. I usually use the website to look at the latest animals and fashions available. We prefer to go to the store to actually make the bear. This is something that is reserved for a special treat because it can get rather pricey fast. I have a 5 yr old boy and he loves it! Most of the time I can get out of there without having to buy shoes and alot of the extras (aimed more towards girls anyways).

Bears and other animals start at $10 each and can got up to $25. There are tons of choices for $15 and under.  You get to stuff it, add a heart, make a wish and name it for free. Now you...

My son and I love to go to build a bear. You go into the store and you get to chose a animal skin. They have so many choices, and start at only $10. Then you get to go fill your friend with fluff.... You choose a heart make a wish and put it inside. They also tear off this barcode and put it inside your bear just in case it's lost someone can return it to any build a bear workshop and they will contact you... Such a great idea. Then they sew up your friend and have you go brush it (give it a bath) and then you get to shop for clothes and accesories. It looks like so much fun. My son has a blast.... read full review »

I know I am slow to jump on the bandwagon, but I recently took my oldest daughter to build a bear in our local mall. It was her 8th birthday and I told her she could get any toy she wanted (within reason) and a new outfit for her birthday. She immediately said - What about Build A Bear. We went in and had such a blast! She made her own little birth certificate for her bear, which she named Princess of course. We spent 45 minutes looking at all the outfits and making up our mind. She has slept with her Princess Kitty every night and took it to school for show in tell. It was so funny how she dressed... read full review »

I recently let my daughter buy the limited edition Rudolph at Build-a-bear.  It costs $23 for the basic Rudolph, which has a light up nose.  The quality of the animal is very good, and the experience of making it is super fun for preschoolers.  However, they get you in the extras.  My daughter really wanted to add in the Rudolph sound chip ($4) and the special "reindeer collar" for $3.50.  These things add up!!  There were many other things to add on, but I resisted.  Be prepared to spend for those extras!  But, she LOVES the Rudolph and it was a fun bonding experience.

We took our 3 year old to a Build A Bear store in a local mall and had her pick out the things she would want "if" we were to buy them for her birthday. I then went online and was able to order the exact items she had picked out in the store, and even found a Hello Kitty friend (my daughters favorite) that wasn't available in store! I would definitely shop at buildabear.com again!

Although they are a little pricey, Build-a-Bear is one of my favorite splurges. I started collectimg them after my now husband took me to build one for one of our dates. Now he gets me one every year for our anniversary. They make great gifts. I love how you can personalise them. The staff is always so friendly and helpful.
