Buffalo Wild Wings Grill & Bar
I wanted to see if it was as ridiculous as everyone said.
Namely,
1) you have to seat yourself despite a sign stating otherwise, 2) Food is bad, and 3) It takes a really long time to get your food and your check.
1) We walked in assuming we'd have to seat ourselves. We were half-right. Three (3) different people attempted to seat us. As we walked along, the first person passed us off to another person and said "that woman will seat you" and the second person passed us off to a third. Unfortunately, they fumbled the ball near the end and the last woman walked away from us before we got to a table...forcing us to seat ourselves.
2) I LOVE the menu that aspires to be so much more than a mediocre chain restaurant. PAGES are devoted to explaining the difference between lager, ale, stout, etc. Yet their beer selection consists primarily of bad American drafts. They do have a "specialty and craft" beer category, which contains (I am not making this up): Budweiser Lime. And they have like a page talking about their "story" and "vision" and also going on and on about their wings. This sort of dedication to being bottom-of-the-barrel is awe-inspiring.
The food and beer: Because it's a national chain and they don't bother to make local menus, they don't actually have a lot of the items listed. This may be a good thing, because it saves you from having to eat it. They DO offer 23-ounce beers at a reasonable price, which is the only thing I liked about the place. They refuse to cook the burgers anything less than well-done. Okay.
The wings were served without celery and with ranch dressing. By this point, our spirits were broken and we ate what we were served without questioning it, fearing internment in some sort of prison camp if we spoke up. Clearly, Buffalo Wild Wings is bigger than us.
3) The food arrived relatively intact. Of course, they tried to bring us at least one wrong order. I would have been disappointed if they hadn't. The check took so long that it became obvious that payment was optional. We opted not to.
