Buddys Chance - Cara Vacchiano - Austin, TX —
I'm foster coordinator for a volunteer non-profit group that places greyhounds (and greyhound mixes) from the racing industry in permanent, appropriate, loving homes. Many of our dogs have had odd puppyhoods and need to learn how to interact with "regular" dogs in public and in their new homes. While most are pretty well-socialized, some are clueless! Cara Vacchiano, who owns Buddy's Chance, is superb at helping you recognize and understand dog behavior, encourage appropriate forms of dog-dog communication and interaction, and bond with your dog. Our group has used her with some foster dogs who needed specific training, as well as those who needed a dog day care setting where they could learn, play, and grow in self-assurance. She offers group classes, individual classes, private consults, day care, and limited boarding. There are standards for day care and boarding (no aggressive dogs), but she has a training partner who works with "reactive" dogs to help them reach the point where aggression is not an issue. Cara is a big believer in giving the dogs jobs to do--they should work for their meals, treats, etc.--and challenging them intellectually with interactive toys and ongoing training. Want a happier, better occupied dog? Call Cara.
