Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?, by Bill Martin Jr. and Eric Carle. Board book.
We don't leave home without "Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?", because this book holds my son's attention like no other book we own. This is one of the first things he learned to ask for by name when he began talking.
The book is an eductational journey of colors and animals and their actions. Each set of pages shows an animal in full color in a unique illustration. Each animal is asked what they see and then answers with another animal and it's color. It then transitions into a teacher and children and a review of all the colors and animals at the end.
The board book style is also a must for this book in my household because it travels with us so much. It is especially wonderful entertainment in the car or in a restaurant while waiting for food.
I began reading this to my son when he was only a few months old and the colorful illustrations held his glace throughout the entire book. It will be a great book for teaching reading skills because it is so basic.
