I got this machine for myself  in 2006. It was the least expensive embroidery machine with the best features that I could find. While I had some issues at first ( my first machine the needle threader broke but Brother promptly replaced the machine) once I became comfortable with it, I have been having alot of fun! — The most important thing to know...get the PES design basic card and reader! This is a great machine for the low- to medium-use home seamstress, however, it is not the best choice for someone who does a high volume of sewing or who sews very bulky items (like diapers). — — It has nice built-in designs and stitches. I love creating crafts especially with the children in my neighborhood and so have come to be known as the craft lady by the neighborhood children. A sewing machine such as this one would make it a lot easier in creating a lot of the crafts the children and I create. It would help to personalize their Halloween bags and outfits a little moreso with the embroidery as well as being able to sew it together a lot easier. I love the brother PE 270.  It is a computerized embroidery & sewing machine combination.  I primarily use it from embroidery because I have another sewing machine and do not want to take the embroidery carriage off.  It takes a little craft experience to get used to but it really is a neat addtion to my crafting room.  So far I have embroidered bags, stocking and dog bandana's.  I finally have the hang of embroidering the lettering without problem.  If you are sewing savvy and want to move into embroidery this may be the machine for you. — … read full review »

This machine has over 200 preinstalled designs. I love this machine.  I gave up my older machine after having difficulty finding parts for it and got an awesome deal on this machine.   The kids were super psyched that I could now embroider on their clothing.  I can make cute Disney embroidery on the baby's clothes.  It's simple to use and it's a good quality machine.  I can't complain at all.  I wish the cartridges were a little cheaper, but these are licensed characters so I can understand. … read full review »

Its a good deal at that price for a sweing machine that will do embroidery too. It its comes with more add on embroidery cards that will best deal. Its nice machine ,easy to understand & light weight. Would be good if it was more study.
