Britney Spears - Blackout —

Britney Spears is back with her fifth album (if you count the greatest hits) in the form of Blackout.  Finally she is back to what she does well; and that is providing poppy songs with beats that are sure to make the dance floor jump, all while making sure that the lyrics don't intrude too much on the songs themselves.  Nobody is ever going to call Britney Spears a great singer, but she is an artist that knows how to give her fans what they want, and this is an album that is sure to make every fan she has left satisfied.

The first single off of Blackout was Gimme More, her self omage to what she does on the dance floor "every time they turn the lights down."  Now the song could be annoying to those who aren't into the pop scene, but the beats, undertones, and even the hook itself combine to give a presentation that lends itself well to a club atmosphere.  That is exactly what she was going for, and exactly what listeners of the song will find themselves presented with.  Though its hard not to think of everything going on in her personal life when you first start listening to her newest CD, you can become absorbed in the music if you like pop.

Sure to follow Gimme More are going to be singles Piece of Me, Radar, and Break The Ice who all lend themselves well to radio play.  They are all songs that can be danced too, and as you are listening to the album, you quickly realize that she isn't going for those ballads like Luckythat were her interludes between dance songs, and is instead sticking with exactly what made her famous.  Listening to the album you find yourself thinking that she had some sort of techno infusion into her sound, and the album doesn't really slow down to give you time to breathe.  If you don't mind that, and you like Britney Spears, then this album is sure to be pleasing.

I think that I am satisfied with Blackout, and I think it will end up being a real success for her. Many had thought that Britney was going to fade away after several breakdowns on the public stage, but her album proves one again, that if you put her into a studio with the right collaborators that she is going to come out with another hit album.  Britney is definitely back, and this album is a recommended entry into the pop genre.

In response to StarSoldier1's comment from Nov 4, 2007 at 5:34PM:

Oh yes, she is a phony. She is in it for the sales, but I think the product is still going to be a big dance-club sensation.

Yeah, her music is still good but she just seems like such as a phony.
