I am a mother of three. Our family has seen our fair share of carseats, and I have to say that the Britax Roundabout was the best seat that I purchased. I wish I had bought a britax for my oldest two children. We used the Britax for our daughter since the day we left the hospital. She used the seat till she was a little under three years old. I am sure we could have used it longer even, but she wanted a booster like her older brother.
This seat was amazing and I was sad to see it go. The cover that came with it (puppy love) was soft and velvety. She loved to be in it, and sometimes fell asleep before we even started the car. She immediately would put her head to the side and rest on the seat. We never needed to buy extra "pillows" to hold her head up because the seat supported her so well and was very cushioned. And even though the material was a velvety thick material, it was never too hot. We lived in Florida at the time of owning this carseat and it is summer there year round for the most part, and I never pulled her out of the seat and saw any signs of sweating, unlike other seats that I have owned in the past with the washable nylon or plastic based material. The britax cover is easily removable for washing. And after three years of owning and using it the cover still looked brand new.
Besides comfort the seat was very user friendly. The straps were easily adjustable and I always felt that my daughter was very secure in the seat. When she started to gain weight and was a little chunkier, around 6-9 months old, there was a point where her legs seemed a wee bit tight near the bottom buckle. But I will say that she has very healthy legs. Even the doctor commented on the size of her thighs at her first checkup. She just has beefy thighs! But still, we were able to adjust the seat and she fit into it fine.
I will add that I am a fanatic about researching products before I buy and I truly felt that I couldn't have bought a safer seat for my child when owning the britax. More so than any other seat that our family owned.
I think for the money, even though it's steeper than most other carseats out there, it is indeed a bargain. Our family is extremely frugal. With five mouths to feed and several pets, living off one income (I am a homeschool parent) we don't have room to be anything but thrifty. But I felt that when spending the extra money on this seat the ends justified the means. I do not regret that decision.
