Because we needed to get two carseats for our twins, we did a LOT of comparison shopping. Safety was extremely important as well as durability and how easy it was to get the kids in and out of the car. Cost was factored in very carefully, also.
Initially, we experienced "sticker shock" at the price of the Britax Roundabout, especially since we needed to get two of them. But after exhustive research, that's what we ended up buying. And I'm so glad we did!
I didn't realize how much I loved the Britax Roundabout seats until we bought a second pair of carseats for our other car. The kids are almost never in there, so we bought a very low cost pair of Costco seats. They're horrible! The straps are constantly tangled and flipped around. Such a pain to get the kids in and out of. And the seats themselves seem flimsy. I wouldn't dream of taking my kids on a longer road trip in them. They seem so uncomfortable. Also, they're difficult to install. I hate them.
We've had the Britax Roundabout seats for over two years now. I've washed the covers several times with no problems and they look as good as the day we bought them. The seats are still comfortable. And everything works perfectly. They are worth EVERY penny.
