My oldest is 4 yrs and before she turned three, we knew she'd need a new seat soon. I didn't want her in a booster seat-- I wanted something with a 5 pt harness that was safer. I also wanted something comfortable for long rides. My pediatrician recommended this seat. When we got it, we were surprised how large it is-- it is the size of our captains chairs. BUT, it is just as comfortable as the seats in our van. It is well padded and the suede like material cleans easy (we have had ketchup to chocolate milk and they still look new), is never hot or cold to sit on, and my girls can ride in them for hours on long trips and they are never uncomforable.
When my youngest was ready to trade up to a toddler carseat, I took one look at the thinly padded, plastic molded seat our oldest had used for a while and ordered the Regent for her too. Now the girls sit in the back bench seat in their matching Britax Regent Madison seats. We get lots of compliments on them.
The best thing about these seats, is that even though they are expensive, they are the last seat you will ever buy for your child once they go forward facing.
