great seat but not for us...

3 star rating

frequent driver, safety conscious, a comparison shopper, not rich, looking for durability, mom of 3, family traveler
Pros

can be used until 65 lbs., Comfortable for long car trips, Can be used rear-facing until 33 lbs!, Great cover options, Easily disassembled to clean up messes, easy to loosen straps, easy to get kids into and out of, Can be used rear facing until 35 pounds!

Cons
expensive, can't buy accessories in the store, Washing the seat cover makes it loose, latch bar is nightmare RFing!, most kids outgrow height not weight, clips don't stay shut w/seatbelt install, crotch strap not adjustable, Is large in smaller cars

LOVE BRITAX  but the marathon just doesn't work for us

I needed the Marathon to install RFing with the latch in my Tahoe...couldn't be done! Latch bar is problem.  straps move along bar and when we tightened straps it would mess with the recline making it tooo reclined. I even had a friend who is a tech try to get proper install and he could not do it ... we returned it and went with a decathlon...

Babies R Us is a great resource for car seat testing (just don't trust the info they give) In the future I will go there and ask to use the seat to test install before I make a purchase.

also the crotch strap is not adjustable and with big kids (chunky) thats a problem.. also with cloth diapered babies... its a problem (the decathlon has adjustable strap ;-)
