Here we are, 5 years and two children later, with the same dependable Britax Marathon.     Was it pricier than almost all others?  No doubt.  Did it get the best reviews when we bought it?   Yes.    I got more bang for the buck on an amazing product.

We bought this when we had my daughter.   She is now 5, and she misses the comfort of the Britax.   The comfort now belongs to her brother, now 2.

It was fairly easy to install.   We installed it once, and the only time we've taken it out at all is for deep cleaning.

If you are planning on transferring it from car-to-car, it is not a great choice.    It is not a snap to undo the base with a baby/toddler in hand.   That is what our second car-seat purchase was for.    This spare car-seat purchase reinforced the fact that the Britax Marathon is so far ahead of the pack.

Our spare car seat is average price, popular brand, good reviews.  It is not nearly as secure against the backseat.  When my toddler rocks around in glee or temper tantrum, the car seat follows suit.    If this occurs in the Britax, the seat remains solid as a rock, try as the kiddo might to get it to move.  Now that is safety!

No question this thing washes well - I was stunned at how well.   No tears in the fabric, the frame is solid.   What's that saying, takes a licking and keeps on ticking?  Believe me, this thing has seen it all.

I will actually be sad when my youngest grows out of the Britax and graduates to a booster.  I'll miss seeing that thing in the back seat.   It has experienced our first roadtrips, first words, giggles, and car songs.
