We first purchased the Britax Marathon when our oldest son was about 7 months old. He was tall for his age and was quickly outgrowing the infant seat (part of a travel sytem) we owned. We were so pleased with the first seat that we even bought another one when our second son outgrew the infant seat!
After a lot of on-line research and in-store "test drives" we chose this seat for the extra weight limit (65 lbs) and the features, such as pads on the shoulder straps and bottom buckle area.
Our son was able to sit up a little higher in this seat than some others, which he enjoyed once he was forward-facing. We also found it easy to install and move to other vehicles when needed.
An additional feature that we have appreciated is how easy it has been to remove, machine-wash, and replace the cover. Our son has suffered severe reflux since he was a baby, which has resulted in a need to wash the seat cover often!
Finally, we have used the Britax Marathon on several long car trips (2000 miles round trip!) and our sons have been comfortable, even when sleeping. We borrowed a different seat once during a trip and quickly saw that it was not as comfortable for our son when he was napping.
Overall, we have been very pleased with both of the Britax Marathon car seats we have purchased. It was certainly worth the few dollars extra that we paid.
