When I first became a parent I got a car seat (second-hand) because it was the law and didn't really pay much attention to safety features. I didn't have a lot to spend so I thought I didn't have many options. I bought this seat 3.5 years ago when my son finally outgrew his infant seat. I was looking for safety and value. In comparing the Marathon to others in it's price range, Britax was the only seat made to hold a child larger than 40 pounds. At that point, a booster seat purchase would have to be made. I shopped around to find the safest possible car seat for my child and I decided on the Britax Marathon because it is built with sturdy materials, the company rigorously tests their products before allowing them out on the market, and it is designed to last into early childhood. I did TONS of research before buying this car seat! My 3 1/2 year old had grown too big for his Britax Roundabout (loved that seat!) and there was NO WAY I was putting him in a booster seat. I was originally planning on buying the Britax Regent, but when we got to the store I realized how big it actually was and my little guy just looked too small in it for me. I didn't feel that he would be as comfortable or safe in it. This Britax Marathon seat has lasted through four toddlers, all boys. It has always washed up nicely and is then easy to reinstall into our minivan. No camplaints from the little ones when we take long cross country trips. It has been a great addition to our family. I would definitely buy it again as it was worth every penny. I have a daughter who just turned 4. I bought the Britax car seat right before she was born because it came highly recommended from a co- worker. He is a health and safety manager and I am an occupational health manager. We both work for a very large fortune 50 company and it is always SAFETY FIRST! This carseat offered the most important features that other carseats can't even come close to. It can keep your baby rear-facing for the longest time, making it the safest choice, and it'll be the last carseat you'll ever have to buy. I also love the straps because they never get twisted and are so easy to adjust, especially when your baby needs a bulky coat one day or a light jacket the next. And the buckles are so easy to use. I received this carseat as a gift from my parents when my now 2.5-year-old outgrew her infant seat at 6 months old! I did a lot of research on various carseats to present to my parents to show them what you can get with your money, so to say. That was about 2 years ago, and the carseat is going strong!! I decided to splurge and get the Britax Marathon when it was time to move my baby up from the infant carrier. Well, actually my mother in law went in half with me. It was well worth the money! I love being able to adjust the straps in the front. The cover is so plush and soft. The seat seems cushy and comfy for my baby. We have it rear facing right now. In my Nissan Sentra it was a tight fit and didn't leave much room in the front, but in my 4-Runner it fits just fine. I'm happy that I can use this seat up to 65lbs. I love this Britax car seat. It is easy to install and uninstall, so it makes swtiching vehicles a breeze. The car seat covers are soft and beautiful - though finding a store with extra covers for sale is difficult. I have only found them online. The cost is a little more than other brands, but the style and safety features are well worth the extra cost. It is rated for up to 65 pounds which means getting a lot of use of the seat. This is a great car seat for almost everyone! I drive a small sedan and it fits very well in the back seat. If you drive a compact or economy car, it may not fit. I like the maximum weight limit and will definitely get my money's worth on that alone. We will be using this seat for a very long time! Although the minimum weight limit doesn't seem to fit for this seat. A small baby won't fit in this seat because of the strap height. It is too high for a small baby.
