The Britax Boulevard came to me recommended from a friend who knows a German engineer. She said that he, and all his German Engineer friends only use this seat for their children. I found in all of my own research that it does have a very high safety rating. A lot of the "travel systems" with the detachable base have disconnected from the base in actual accidents, as opposed to the crash-tests that they publish the research from. We dicided to go with the one-piece Boulevard instead of one of those types for this reason. I had a little trouble learning how to install it at first but I do have "mommy brain" so everything is more difficult for me to learn these days : ) After about 3 installs, I had it down. I have been a little bit apprehensive about installing it in cars with smaller back seats because the Boulevard is long from front to back and in order to have the seat at the manufaturer's suggested angle (45-60 degrees), you have to push the seat in front WAY forward. In our minivan that means that I, as the front passenger, have no recline room whatsoever. Also, it is hard to find an anchor point in some older cars that don't have the latch system. The seat is attractive, has a plush liner and is easy to clean. The 5 point harness is tangle-free and easy to use. It is a very adaptable seat because it goes from 5 to at least 30 pounds (maybe 35? not positive...) and the headrest/shoulder straps adjust up and down for the perfect fit for your child. I think it's worth the extra money for the safety rating and the fact that you won't have to buy another on as soon as your infant gets to big, like you would with one of those "peanut" seats. Who really wants to carry a shild around in one of those anyway? People alwasy look so uncomfortable lugging those around, and it can't be good for your back. That's what infant carrying systems are for! I say leave a good, safe seat in the car and transport your baby without it. It's a great seat!
