Brita Faucet Water Filtration System Review

Bottom-Line: I like the peace of mind that comes with knowing that Brita Faucet Water Filtration System is working in the background to protect me and mind.

The water that comes into our house from the local reservoir is some of the cleanest in the state, but there is always room for improvement.  I mean the water tastes clean, that is there is not taste, which is the way water is supposed to, well taste, but you never know what might have been missed. 

So what we bought our new house some eight years ago, we also bought our first Brita Faucet Water Filtration System for the kitchen faucet.

What is the Brita Faucet Water Filtration System?  The Brita Faucet "Water-Filtration system is a base, adapters, and filter.  The "system" installs without tools on household faucets to help eliminate nearly all foul tastes and odors from drinking water.  Brita Faucet Water Filters do not purify unsafe drinking water, however the systems' activated charcoal filter cartridge does "capture 99.9% of cryptosporidium and giardia microbes and largely eliminates certain herbicides, pesticides, and solvents." 

The typical (white) Brita filter cartridge can work up to (4) months, or can purify up to 100 gallons of water.  How do you know the Brita Faucet Water Filter is filtering your water?  A green LED glows green whenever water is routed through the filter;  a red LED glows red when there is about 20 gallons of filtering power remaining, and flashes red when a cartridge needs replacing.

The filter is mounted on a base, which screws onto the end of the faucet.  The base in turn is fitted with a handle that slides into one of three positions to permit unfiltered water to flow from the faucet, either as a stream or a spray, so you only use the Brita Faucet Water Filter System only when you need it. 

Care should be taken not to run hot water through the filter because it only works for water up to 100 degrees.

My Viewpoint

I had some issues installing the first Brita Faucet Water Filtration System onto our Moen faucet.  Out of the box the base would not fit, so I had to send away for adapters, the first set of which did not fit either.  So I sent away for more and finally found a set that matched our faucet. 

However, since installing the Brita Faucet Water Filtration System it has been smooth sailing.  The filters detach with the push of the button and snap into place without issue.  Do I taste the difference in the water?  Honestly no, but I like the peace of mind that comes with knowing that Brita Faucet Water Filtration System is working in the background to protect me and mind.
