We were looking for a water filter solution.  We had previously had a PuR faucet filter and were pleased for the most part with it, but while shopping this time the Brita Faucet Filter was the better value and so we went with it.

Installation was fairly straight-forward:
1. Remove the aerator from the faucet.
2. Install the appropriate adaptor onto the faucet.
3. Install the filter housing to the adaptor.
4. Insert the filter element.

Simple enough, but the adaptor struck me as being a poor design during installation since it only has 2-3 threads to connect the adaptor to the Brita filter housing.  In addition, the plastic nut of the fitler housing felt "cheap".  At any rate, installation was a breeze and took only a couple of minutes.  As per the instructions, I prepared to let water run through the filter for 5 minutes to condition the filter and remove the charcoal dust.  That's when the problems started...

As soon as I turned on the faucet, the entire filter assembly came flying off, spraying water all over the kitchen in the process.  At first I thought that maybe I didn't tighten the nut well enough.  So, I reattached it and ensured that it was as tight as I could get it by hand.

Turned the water on again...so far so good.  I moved the lever to begin filtering the water.  *SPLASH*!  Again, the whole deal came flying off the faucet!  This time I thought maybe that I had tightened it too much both times, so I reinstalled it and only snugged it down.  I *slowly* turned the water on and this time everything held together.

Some time later, I went to fill up some water bottles.  A few seconds into filling up the first one, *SPLASH* the whole thing flew apart again.  At this point, it's more than a minor annoyance.

The filter will not stay attached the faucet with any more than a fair amount of water pressure.  I feel that this is a design flaw of the faucet adaptor and will be calling Brita customer service to lodge a complaint and see if they have a resolution.  If not, I will be asking for a refund.

Next time, I'll stick with the PuR system.

I was finally able to remember to call customer service while they were open.  They mailed me a package of metal adaptors.  Since I've installed the new metal adaptors, I haven't had any issues.  I can only hope that they replace the plastic ones with the metal ones in future kits.

I recieved the adapters today (3 of them plus washers of different thickness) but none of the adapters fit my faucet. I needed a female 55/64 adapter to fit the faucet and a male 55/64 to fit the Brita. One adapter fit the B
rita but not the faucet (I specifically told customer support that my faucet is 55/64. Now I have to wait until Monday to call them back. What a pain in the _ _ tt!

I had the same problem. Customer support told me that they will mail an adapter to "relieve the water pressure". I have had several of the these systems and each one begins to leak at the collar before one year of use.
I noticed that the hole in the middle of the round teflon-like flow restrictor in the collar is much smaller than the hole in the unit I'm replacing. I believe that this is causing the lunit to pop off the faucet because it is allowing less water to flow through. If Brita knows of the pressure problem why didn't they make the hole larger in the newer units?

UPDATE: My husband went to a hardware store and bought a roll of teflon tape for less than a dollar, and wrapped a layer of tape around the adapter. It thickened the threads just enough and now it works great.

Thank you for reminding me! Yes, I did actually. They sent me a package of metal adaptors. Since I installed those, I have had no issues!

We had the same issue - we just bought this today and are so annoyed. Did you have any luck with customer service?

Welcome to Viewpoints. Nice job. Sounds like a pretty poor design.
