We bought this playmat for our fourth child. That makes this the fourth playmat we've bought, but it's the first playmat that ever got used more than a handful of times. Not only was this playmat affordable, and the cutest playmat I've EVER seen, but it's the most loved! We love it, and, more importantly, so does our daughter! There are two pieces on the playmat that she especially enjoys--the musical bird that hangs down from the center and the heart-shaped rattled that is attached. We took the rattle off and she just uses it on her own. The only reason I took off one "point" is because the bird is "drying" so the music sounds all warbled and stops short sometimes. Which is a shame because that's her favorite part, and she's only been using it regularly for the last month (though she started using it when she came home from the NICU at 6 weeks old and she is almost 5 months old now). Anyway, we are trying to get a replacement part for that now, but our baby girl still loves it just the same. We even bring it with us on our trips to the park with the older kids!

I love the Bright Starts Petals and Friends Activity Gym! It has great colors of pink and teal that are so bright and adorable. The patterns are also very cute (little flowers and birds all around). But even better than the cute pattern and colors are the toys that come with the playmat. There are a great assortment, from a teething heart with liquid inside, to a plastic mirror, and the center bird which makes music every time baby pulls on it. My daughter really seems to enjoy spending time on the mat and is quite stimulated by the things to look at as well as the things to do (lots to pull and grab at). It is made from a great soft material, that is comfortable for baby to lay on. It is also extremely lightweight--unlike a lot of other play gyms I've seen--which is great for portablility and movement. The only downside that I've seen with this, is that the battery life on the bird is very short--it started wearing out within a few months--and there is no way to replace it. In older models, there was a flap you could open to replace the battery. But with this toy bird, the battery is sewn inside (it isn't meant to be replaced). But other than that--no complaints here!
