I needed new luggage this year and I wasn't happy about it because I loved my old luggage. It was tweed and leather and it was gorgeous and it lasted for 20 years.  As we're getting older though we're realizing we really do need wheels on our luggage.  (especially because the hubby was too stubborn to get a cart and insisted on carrying it and then yelling at me for overpacking *grin*)  The problem?  First.....I need luggage I can "nest."  I live in a highrise and I'm not about to waste too much closet space on luggage.  And don't talk to me about using it for storage, because then you have to unpack it before you can pack it for vacations.  So....I needed to find pieces that would fit one into another when not in use.  They do make these kinds of sets, but many of them looked cheap to me.  And, we often go places that require dressing for dinner which means you need a way to pack jackets and dresses so they won't wrinkle so we needed suiters and a garment bag that wasn't too big.  (and the ones with wheels don't fit in the other luggage).  I also wanted luggage that would last, so I was looking for at least  2520D Ballistic nylon, I knew I wanted luggage that was fairly light, so we wouldn't exceed the airline limits in weight on top of all those other requirements.  I did a lot of looking and it seemed that very little met ALL those requirements.

And then I found it and it had the best guarantee I've ever seen for luggage.  They call it the "simple as that" warranty.  They'll fix it for any reason, including airline damage.  (Do you know that most luggage warranties don't cover damage done by the airlines?????  Just who else is going to be damaging it?????)   This is a good incentive to make quality luggage in the first place.  If, for any reason, it breaks they'll fix it.  The luggage looked good, seemed to be well constructed, and it fulfilled all my needs.

I wound up buying a Superlight 26" upright with a removable "suiter".  Into that I fit a 22" inch carry-on zip expandable upright.  (they make some really interesting hidden expandables, but they weigh a little more) and an extra long garment bag for things like gowns.  (don't always need gowns, but sometimes I do)  and a boarding tote.  I also purchased a  compact tri-fold garment bag that slides over the handle of the 26 inch bag and I can also slide the boarding tote over the 22 inch handle, so my husband and I are wheeling only one bag apiece.  (four....but the design means you're only pulling one each)

I love black, but it's hard to spot at the airport, so we bought the olive and it was a classy looking set.  We handled it rough, bouncing it up and down curbs and banging it around, and it held up just fine.

Briggs & Riley....it costs a little more....but it's worth checking out.

Very true, the set I bought was a 5 piece set with 4 being wheeled and the 5th. a carry on bag. ;)

I had the hardest time finding what I wanted in a lot of brands because the wheels and various other parts, though practical, do take up extra space and made it harder to put one inside the other.

I too prefer a set that will nest for easy storage. Thanks for sharing. ;) Ron

Good review. I travel a lot, so a good bag tip is always appreciated.
