Breville Juicer - Juice Fountain —

To the Point

Some months ago I decided I wanted to start juicing. As my first juicer I didn't want to spend a lot of money and found this online for $80. I wanted one that had at least a 500 watt motor. I got the Breville Juice Fountain Model Number BjE200XL. I bought it at amazon.com.

A Closer View

My Juicer came with

  • A food pusher: This is a 3-inch round circular tube that pushed the vegetables and fruits down the large feed tube. I can fit about 5 large carrots in this tube.
  • A stainless steel mesh filter basket that is dishwasher safe on the top shelf.
  • A plastic jug that holds 32 ounces of juice. The lid stays on while juicing which prevents some splashing. It also acts to separate froth from the juice so if I want froth I take off the lid. I don't store it in the container because I like to shake it but it can be store in the jug in the refrigerator. The jug is dishwasher safe.
  • Safety lock arm: I really like this feature. In order for the juicer to start this metal arm has to be lifted around the top of the juicer.
  • The pulp container with an area in which the pulp collects. It will collect 1.5 liters of apple juice. This is plenty for the 32-ounces of juice I make a day however if you make more you will have to clean the container during juicing. This is dishwasher safe.
  • The juice cover which is dishwasher safe sits on top of the pulp container.
  • A cord wrap that goes under the base of the juice fountain so the long cord isn't on my counter.
  • A nylon bristle brush: This is used both to clean the basket with the bristle and to clean the pulp. The handle of the brush is angled to take out the pulp really easily.
  • An assist plug: This is a trademark of Breville. It has a finger hold so I don't have to put my fingers near the outlet.*

The machine weighs about 8 pounds and measures 9.5" x 8.75" x 16."

It has a 1-year limited warranty.

Let's use it

It's an easy piece to use. The pulp container goes on the base. There is a piece on the pulp container from which the juice flows. I put the cover on and it locks in place. I then take the basket which is the piece that does the juicing into the motor base.

The next step is to slide the food pusher into the feed chute. I then put the juice jug under the spout of the Juice Fountain.. This is one of the annoying parts of the Juicer. There have been times I haven't put the lid on the jug the right way and juice comes that is supposed to come from the spout will obviously not go into the jug!

I then lift the handle and plug in the plug and start the motor. I then start juicing! A couple of annoying issues come into play. There can be spatter. With time I have gotten better at eliminating the amount of spatter. The spatter happens when I have pushed the food through the chute into the pulp container and then lift the food pusher out of the chute. There will be some residue on the pusher. Since the motor is still going and it's windy the residue can splatter off. I eliminate this by taking the pusher out really quickly.

The Juice Fountain is very easy to clean. The most difficult piece is the basket and that's not difficult either. I use the brush that came with the Juicer and make sure I can see through the mesh so that no particles are left over.

I wouldn't suggest this as a replacement if you are using a $300 juicer or juice 3 gallons of fruit and vegetables a day. However if you are like I am and juicing for myself and my husband then it's just fine. It will juice anything even pineapple with the rind on.

Well, that's a great review. Is that carrot juice? I think so based on the review. I'm not so sure I could make myself drink down carrots. Gosh. I sound like my boys now.

I worked at a juice bar when I was 14, so I have been hooked on carrot apple juice my whole adult life!! :) Though, beware-- your hands turn solid orange!
