When I got pregnant, I knew that I wanted to try and nurse my baby because of the health benefits. I worked in a maternity store for several years and had heard the ups and downs from many new moms. While pregnant, I read as much material I could so that I could be prepared. Luckily my daughter… read full review »

As a first-time mom, I had never doubted that I would breastfeed my children. My mom breastfed me during a time when formula was all the rage. I knew all of the benefits - bonding between mother and baby, easier for baby to digest, et cetera. — — Unfortunately, things don't always work out as planned. My milk didn't come in for nearly a week after my son was born, and even then I was never able to produce enough for him to not still be hungry afterward. I tried everything to increase production - nursing longer, nursing more often, pumping after feedings to make sure they… read full review »

My first wouldn't take to breast feeding and I had inverted nipples.  I had NO support and it was very hard to do, especially being a first time mom and not knowing what to do.  I made it through 6 weeks before he literally ripped off one of my nipples.  I switched him to formula and he is still alive and doing great.  I was DETERMINED to bf my second child and he is now 14 months old and still nursing.  When I was pregnant I would rub the purple Lansinoh Cream on my nipples after each shower and then more often as I got closer to term.  I had NO problem at all… read full review »

This is my first time breastfeeding but my third child. My first two kept ear infections and respitory infections. (they were NOT breastfed) My newest child has no problems and is a very happy baby. If you want to breastfeed but don't know if you can, here's how it finally worked for me. First thing is to buy the boppy pillow that has the back support and snaps to you. That is a lifesaver. It makes it so much easier and you have a free had to do other things. It also helps your back. Second I also pump extra for bottles. The nurses told me this wasn't a good idea because the child would have… read full review »

I won't go into the already fabulous reasons to breastfeed ( bonding, baby's nutrition, etc. ) that have been mentioned in previous reviews. I'll try to add some that haven't already been mentioned.. like..... it makes you SKINNY. I AM THINNER NOW THAN BEFORE I GOT PREGNANT. No gym..just exclusively breastfeeding for the first nine months!!!! —  If you are a busy mom (and who isn't?)...who has time to prepare bottles and wash them all and how long can you prepare them in advance, anyway?...why stress???? Breastfeeding is food on the fly. Wether you are going out on an… read full review »

I breastfed all three of my kids.  Two of them, longer than I'd like to admit.  It is such a special bond between mom and baby.  There's nothing like it.  There is absolutely NOTHING sexual about it.  I think this is why some moms don't try it.  Some are afraid that it will hurt too much.  If the bottle was NEVER invented, we would have to breastfeed!  If you had your baby while vacationing on a deserted island, you would have to breastfeed!  Our society has made it too easy to opt not to.  Our society also frowns upon public breastfeeding or… read full review »

It's clear that mother's milk is best for babies AND for the breastfeeding family. It's also clear that feeding artifical milk is inferior. — La Leche League really helped me learn the art of breastfeeding. Occasionally we hear of women who had some trouble getting off to a successful start. We don't as often hear from the women whose babies latched right on and had no troubles. They are the majority, but people seem to more often share the hard times. That's just human nature. — While breastfeeding is completely natural, that doesn't always mean it comes naturally to every… read full review »

BREAST MILK is the only food made for human babies!  All the others are poor imitations which don't provide immunity to diseases and the exact nutrition babies need.  Formulas can cause allergies, stomach upsets, smelly diapers, and developmental deficiencies.  Not to mention the high costs!  Breast milk is always the right temperature with no bottle warming needed.  It is so much more convenient - at least when mom and baby are together.  Pumping and storing for other times is not so great, but the great benefit for baby outweighs anything else.  I… read full review »

I'm the mother of 4.  I tried breastfeeding all 4 of my babies, It just never worked very well for me.  I'm not sure why?  Maybe I have wierd nipples.  They don't seem wierd. Sometimes a baby's tongue is short.  My son's tongue had to be clipped.  Maybe this also had something to do with it.  Bottles worked very well for me.  I was still able to bond well with my babies.  I never believed in the propping the bottle method.  I always held my babies close to me and watched them eat.  I feel it was as rewarding looking… read full review »

I have never really had ANY problems nursing BOTH of my kids. My daughter with a little exception, she was my first born, and a little difficult delivery, and we were separtaed for a few hours for tests, and while separtated, they gave her a BOTTLE!!!!! At day 5, she was nursing, REFUSED the bottle, and it was a breeze!!!! LOL, my son, I was soooo used to it by then (They are only 2 years a part, with her nursed until I found out of my second pregnancy) I could cook supper while nursing my newborn, lol, it was SOOO easy and not to mention just NATURAL!!!! i breastfead my son for 3 months (my body just stoped supplying milk) for those 3 months it was the best thing i have ever expirienced the connetion between my son and i, for me their was no pain or complications, i could go out and it was not hard to find someplace to feel my son, it is way cheaper, natural and i understand that some people can not breast feed but if you can wether your for it against it or indesisive just try it, for me it was definatly the best thing… read full review »

I've had 2 babies, and I planned to breastfeed both of them. Needless to say, the best laid plans...blah blah blah. I used to dream about sitting in a rocking chair, breastfeeding my baby, so imagine my bitter surprise when my first baby would NOT nurse. She would arch her back and try to get away from me! Okay, my breasts were rather zepplin-like, and yeah, they were bigger than her head, but come on! They weren't THAT scary. And they had food! What baby doesn't want food? Well...mine. LOL I was so disappointed that she wouldn't nurse, but I did the second best thing...I pumped. For 10… read full review »

Although breastfeeding may not work out for every mom for multiple reasons, I think it should be given a chance.  Not only for the sake of saying you tried it, but because it honestly is what is best for baby.  Babies were meant to get breast-milk.  There are certain physiological reasons that our breasts make milk, because babies need to seal off their immune system.  So weather you are a working mom, a busy mom or any other type of mom.  You cannot disagree that Breastfeeding is what breasts were made for and there is nothing gross or inappropriate about… read full review »

As a mother of four, I realize the importance of providing the best possible food for your child. Even though people disapporved, I opted to breastfeed each of my children. I will admit, I only went for six months with my first and ten with my second, but my third child went for sixteen months and I'm still nursing my twelve month old. — — The deal is you don't have to be afraid to breastfeed. I know some people get embarrassed, but there's nothing to be afraid of. It's a natural process that God created for babies to be fed by. If you are embarrassed, there's nothing wrong with… read full review »
